Te Tƫranga - The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining scalable, highâperformance data systems that enable reliable data collection, transformation and analysis. Youâll help the organisation maximise the value of its data by delivering clean, accessible datasets and modern pipelines that support business insights and decisionâmaking. Success in this role means delivering highâquality data products on time, within budget, and aligned with business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain scalable pipelines and curated datasets that support efficient data collection, transformation and storage.
Ensure data quality, integrity and availability across all stages of the data lifecycle.
Integrate structured and unstructured data into cohesive data warehouses or lakes that are accurate, reliable and easy to access.
Partner with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
Deliver data products that enable selfâservice analytics and support the retirement of legacy data systems.
Apply data governance standards and collaborate with the technology team to ensure consistency, reuse and seamless integration of tools and APIs.
Monitor data systems, proactively managing risks through appropriate alerting and controls.
Stay informed on emerging data technologies to continually expand and improve the organisationâs data capabilities.
Ensure all changes follow approved protocols, including documentation, testing and budget alignment before goâlive.
You Will Bring
à pëkenga - About You
2+ yearsâ experience in a similar technical role (data engineering, development, or software engineering).
Experience with CI/CD practices, Azure DevOps and Kanban methodologies.
Working knowledge of Snowflake is highly desirable
Strong understanding of data modelling concepts, particularly dimensional modelling.
An agile, adaptable mindset with experience working in iterative delivery environments.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical detail into simple language for nonâtechnical stakeholders.
Ability to work effectively in crossâfunctional teams, take ownership and lead tasks or projects through to completion.
Strong problemâsolving and troubleshooting skills for complex data issues.
Experience with data governance frameworks and data security best practices.
Familiarity with machine learning pipelines and integrating ML models into data workflows.
Working knowledge of Power BI or similar data visualisation tools.
