As our next Software Development Manager, you'll drive technological innovation, nurture engineering talent, and create scalable infrastructure solutions that empower hundreds of engineers across Amazon.
Key job responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 7-12 engineers in Mexico City, developing their technical and professional skills
Drive technical architecture decisions and establish engineering best practices for your team
Own the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable developer infrastructure services and tools
Collaborate with peer teams and stakeholders across Amazon Device OS to understand requirements and align on priorities
Build and maintain roadmaps that balance strategic initiatives with operational excellence
Establish and track meaningful metrics to measure team health, productivity, and impact
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering excellence
Manage operational support and on-call rotations for critical services
Actively participate in hiring and growing the Amazon Device OS Mexico City engineering presence
Partner with your manager and peers to influence the broader Amazon Device OS Developer Infrastructure strategy

We are a passionate, distributed team dedicated to accelerating developer productivity through innovative tooling. Our mission is to build reliable, scalable infrastructure that empowers software engineers across Amazon Device OS. Based in Mexico City, we're expanding our engineering hub and seeking collaborative, forward-thinking leaders.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
4+ years of experience in software development
2+ years of experience in technical leadership roles (tech lead, manager, architect)
Experience managing, mentoring, and developing software engineers
Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Python, Kotlin, TypeScript, etc.)
Experience with CI/CD systems, build automation, and deployment tooling
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and best practices
Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal communication)
Proven track record of delivering complex software projects
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Experience leading teams building developer productivity tools or infrastructure
Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure as code
Knowledge of API management, versioning, and documentation best practices
Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Track record of driving engineering excellence and operational improvements
Experience working in globally distributed teams across multiple time zones
Knowledge of security best practices for development workflows
