About The Role We are seeking a Product Area Lead for Authentication to own and evolve our enterprise authentication capability within the Identity \& Access Management (IAM) Tech Area under Group Cyber Security Domain.
This role is accountable for the strategy, roadmap, and operational excellence of authentication services, including Ping Identity platforms, Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA), and FIDO2 passwordless authentication. You will balance security, user experience, and delivery outcomes while partnering closely with security, architecture, platforms, and application teams.
As a leader, you will shape IAM capabilities aligned with evolving threat landscape, enterprise risk objectives, and regulatory requirements- ensuring the organization remains secure, agile, and well-prepared for emerging challenges.

What will your day look like?
Product Ownership \& Strategy
Own the Authentication‑as‑a‑Service product vision, strategy, and roadmap
Define and prioritise authentication capabilities across Ping, MFA, and FIDO2
Balance security, usability, cost, and delivery trade‑offs
Align authentication strategy with broader IAM and cyber security objectives
Platform \& Service Leadership
Provide leadership over enterprise authentication platforms (e.g. PingFederate, PingAccess, PingID)
Ensure authentication services meet availability, performance, and resilience requirements
Govern authentication patterns, standards, and onboarding approaches
Drive adoption of passwordless and phishing‑resistant authentication using FIDO2
Delivery \& Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with application, platform, and delivery teams to onboard services to authentication platforms
Act as the primary escalation point for authentication‑related risks and issues
Engage senior stakeholders to communicate roadmap, risks, and outcomes
Translate business and security requirements into authentication capabilities
Security, Risk \& Compliance
Own authentication‑related security controls and risk posture
Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory obligations, and audit requirements
Support security incidents related to authentication and access
Drive continuous uplift of authentication maturity across the organisation
Team \& Capability Enablement
Provide guidance and direction to engineers and delivery teams working on authentication
Uplift operational maturity through automation, documentation, and runbooks
Foster a product‑led mindset within IAM and authentication services
What will you bring?
Essential
7+ years’ experience in Identity \& Access Management or Cyber Security
Strong hands‑on and conceptual experience with authentication platforms like Entra, ideally Ping Identity
Deep understanding of MFA and passwordless authentication, including FIDO2 security keys
Strong knowledge of authentication protocols: SAML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect
Proven experience owning or leading a platform or product area in a complex enterprise
Ability to communicate effectively with senior technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Desirable
Experience operating Authentication or shared security platforms
Exposure to workforce and/or customer authentication at scale
Experience in regulated environments (e.g. financial services)
Familiarity with cloud identity platforms (Azure AD / Entra ID, AWS, GCP)
Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, Ping certifications, or similar)

Clear product roadmap aligned to business and security priorities
Increased adoption of strong and passwordless authentication (FIDO2)
Reduced authentication‑related incidents and friction
Audit‑ready controls and clear accountability for authentication outcomes
