Data Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Data Warehouse Engineer (freelancer) to join a leading telecommunications and digital services company in Brussels. You’ll help implement an enterprise-wide data warehouse blueprint and shape a modern, scalable data platform built on Data Vault 2.0 principles.

This is a long-term freelance role within a dynamic, forward-thinking data team, driving the delivery of high-impact analytics solutions.

Core Responsibilities

Implement prioritised business use cases based on the enterprise data warehouse blueprint.

Develop and maintain a

Data Vault-based

warehouse using

VaultSpeed

or similar tools.

Write and optimise complex

SQL

queries for data processing and reporting.

Ensure adherence to governance, quality, and security standards.

Collaborate with

Data Engineers, Architects, and business stakeholders

to bring the reference architecture to life.

Troubleshoot and resolve data ingestion and transformation issues.

Essential Skills \& Experience

Proven experience as a

Data Warehouse Engineer

or similar.

Strong

Data Vault modelling

and implementation skills.

Advanced

SQL

proficiency (tuning, joins, window functions).

Solid understanding of

ETL/ELT

and data integration patterns.

Hands-on experience with

Snowflake, Azure Synapse, BigQuery

, or

Redshift

.

Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset; experience in

Agile/Scrum

environments.

Nice to Have

Experience with

VaultSpeed

or other automation tools.

Familiarity with

GCP

,

CI/CD pipelines

, and

data governance frameworks

.

Exposure to

BI tools

such as Power BI or Tableau.
