Purpose
The Business Data Analyst reports into the Director, Research and Analytics.
This position is a key point of contact for business support analytics. The primary focus of this role is to assist with business data analysis and internal reporting thereby identifying underlying opportunities to make Armstrong Collective better for our guests and travel partners.
Specific areas of focus are revenue building, optimizing sales and marketing initiatives, and supporting the operations teams with analytical products. In collaboration with the Data and Insights department (“D\&I”), this position will transform our organizational data into meaningful insights that inspire powerful actions across the enterprise.
Key Areas of Accountability
Data Analysis:
Takes a proactive approach towards gathering requirements from a variety of stakeholders and developing them into analytical solutions
Collaborates with Data Engineer/Research Analysts to support the end-to-end development of analytical products
Analyzes large data sets to identify market/business sector trends, customer buying patterns, etc. to enable informed sales, marketing, and operational decisions
Applies and integrates statistical, mathematical, and business analysis skills to support the Analytics team in complex data management
Identifies opportunities to improve data accuracy and efficiency of operational databases
Crafts insightful and compelling data-based stories, presentations, and interactive dashboards for business stakeholders
Ensures consistency across all internal reporting while adhering to privacy policies and measures to protect confidential data
Business Support:
Liaisons cross departmentally to understand ad hoc business requirements and coverts them into actionable reporting
Drives reporting automation (wherever possible) thereby freeing up capacity for in-depth analyses
Educates business stakeholders about the realm of possibilities with data analytics while constantly highlighting the value of these solutions
Supports the usage and adoption of analytical products and reports
Takes ownership of delivering on individual products developed by the analytics team
Qualifications
Education / Certifications / Licenses
Bachelor’s degree in quantitative fields such as Business Analytics, Operations Research, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or another related field
Experience
2+ years of work experience in an analytical and reporting capacity preferably in a hospitality or tourism industry
Fluency in SQL and relational database technology
Experience with business intelligence visualization tools such as Power BI, Qlik, Tableau with a strong preference given to candidates familiar with PowerBI
Experience in data modeling best practices for the purpose of reporting, including data federation and data normalization practices
Skills
Self-motivated, curious, and proactive, with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities and an innate drive to improve processes
Ability to perform verbal and visual storytelling using data (with a creative lens and ability to make numbers, measures and targets come alive)
Proven ability to work independently and manage competing demands while adding value to delivered solutions
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
Proficient in Microsoft suite of products especially Microsoft Excel
Working knowledge of Power BI, Power Automate, SSRS and/or Python is an asset
Work Environment
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Corporate Office – Vancouver based; hybrid role with a minimum 3 days / week in the office.
Compensation
The base salary offered for this role is $67,000 to $84,000 per annum and can vary based on job-related expertise, qualifications, experience and internal equity.
