Qualification:
· Bachelor’s degree /Diploma in Computer Science and Information Technology(Technical)
· (Non-technical degree candidates who shows strong interest and skills in QA)
Technical knowledge:
· Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and software testing lifecycle (STLC)
· Familiarity with manual testing concepts: test cases, test plans, defect life cycle
Basic knowledge of:
· Programming/scripting (Python, Java, JavaScript, or C#) – optional but preferred
· Automation testing tools (Selenium, Robot Framework, Cypress, etc.) – nice to have
A QA Intern is expected to have basic theoretical knowledge of software testing, some exposure to coding/tools, and strong willingness to learn, rather than full professional experience.
Responsibilities
· Review requirements and assist in designing test cases.
· Execute manual test cases for web, mobile, and desktop applications.
· Identify, document, and track software defects using bug-tracking tools (e.g., Jira).
· Perform regression, functional, and exploratory testing.
· Support test data preparation and environment setup.
· Collaborate with developers and QA engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
· Learn and contribute to test automation under guidance.
· Document test results and provide clear feedback to the team.
· Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and quality discussions.
· Continuously learn QA tools, processes, and best practices.
Core Testing Responsibilities
· Manual testing: Executing functional, regression, smoke, and pre-written test cases to Validate new features, bugs, errors, and other defects in a product's features and functionality. Perform cross-browser and cross-device testing for web and mobile applications. Assist in usability and accessibility testing.
· Automated testing: Assisting with the creation, maintenance, and execution of automated test scripts to increase efficiency and test coverage.
· Test case management: Writing and updating test cases and test plans based on the products functional and system specifications.
· Defect tracking: Reporting, logging, and tracking identified bugs and issues using defect-tracking tools like Jira, provide detailed defect reports with steps to reproduce, screenshots, or logs. Retest fixed issues and update their status in the bug-tracking system.
· Regression testing: Running tests on new software or features to ensure that recent changes have not negatively affected existing functionality.
· Mobile testing: Testing applications on mobile platforms, including Android and iOS devices.
Collaboration and documentation
· Process documentation: Helping to create and maintain documentation of QA processes, test results, and bug reports.
· Cross-functional collaboration: Working with other teams, including developers, designers, and product managers, to understand feature requirements and improve product quality.
· Team meetings: Participating in agile/scrum team meetings and providing updates on testing progress and discovered issues.
Learning and professional development
· Learning new tools: Becoming familiar with industry-standard testing tools and software, such as Selenium, Robot Framework, Cypress, JIRA.
· Research: Staying up-to-date with new testing processes and emerging technologies to help the team improve its procedures.
· Mentorship: Working under the guidance of senior QA engineers to build technical skills and gain a deeper understanding of the software development lifecycle.
· Learn and apply QA best practices, testing methodologies, and industry standards.
· Explore tools for test management, automation, and CI/CD integration.
· Stay updated on software development life cycle (SDLC) and QA life cycle (STLC) practices.
