Role Overview

We’re seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our growing team in the facilities management sector. You’ll design and deliver customer-facing data products, leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to enhance client experiences. This fully remote role offers a collaborative, flexible environment with occasional travel for company events. Responsibilities

System Design \& Development

Build and maintain RESTful APIs using TypeScript, adhering to Swagger/OpenAPI standards.

Design and optimise BigQuery schemas and queries for performance and cost efficiency.

Integrate Cloud Run, Functions, and Dataflow/DBT for scalable data pipelines.

Security \& Access Control

Implement IAM roles and service accounts with least-privilege principles.

Ensure secure API and data resource access.

Conduct regular security reviews and audits.

Maintenance \& Support

Troubleshoot bugs, performance issues, and client-reported concerns.

Support evolving data and reporting needs.

Optimise infrastructure for scalability and cost.

Document architecture, processes, and best practices.

Required Skills \& Experience

3–5 years of data engineering experience in a software team environment.

Expertise in SQL and BigQuery for schema design and query optimization.

Proven ability to design and document RESTful APIs in TypeScript using Swagger/OpenAPI.

Strong experience with GCP services (Cloud Run, IAM, Functions, Dataflow/DBT).

Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data lakehouse architectures, and cloud integration.

Knowledge of cloud security best practices and cost optimisation.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

Experience with Power BI or similar data visualisation tools to support client reporting.

Familiarity with AWS or Azure, with a willingness to adapt to GCP.

Relevant cloud or data-centric certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer).

Computer Science or related technical degree.

Familiarity with React, React Native, Firebase.

Assessment Process

Candidates will undergo a two-stage interview process, including a 45-minute practical assessment focused on BigQuery schema design and API integration.
