What’s the mahi?

We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical / Energy Modelling Engineer who enjoys getting into the technical detail while keeping the bigger picture in mind. You’ll work closely with clients and project teams to shape high-quality, low-carbon outcomes across Aotearoa’s built environment.

You’ll be part of a collaborative, flexible team, working on projects that are technically challenging, genuinely interesting, and often a little bit unconventional.

Project examples you will work on include commercial offices, healthcare \& laboratory facilities, education and civic buildings, large building upgrades, retrofits and decarbonisation.

What you’ll do:* Bringing your strong client relationships and commercial acumen.

Work with the guidance of senior engineers while taking ownership of projects and/or defined design packages.

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers \& building scientists.

Incorporate energy efficiency, decarbonisation and low-carbon design principles into mechanical solutions.

Undertake predictive modelling to determine the heating and cooling capacity/loads.

Undertake dynamic simulation modelling tools to measure and benchmark human comfort in buildings including glare, daylight, overheating, natural ventilation, and Predicted Mean Vote (PMV).

Undertake exploration and evaluation of thermal envelope opportunities and strategies to optimise performance.

Compliance modelling for building code and green rating systems, including G7, H1, Green Star and NABERSNZ (predictive).

Undertake modelling of potential energy used by a building during its day-to-day operation, including heating, cooling, lighting, and appliances, also benchmarking the carbon emissions associated with the energy use.

Prepare, deliver, and review design reports and key technical outputs.

What you’ll bring:* 4-7 years’ experience working on building mechanical projects with a strong understanding of standards, systems and documentation compliance

Experience undertaking and supervising built environment computational analysis.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent/similar).

Proficiency in Revit \& Integrated Environmental Solutions Virtual Environments (IES(VE))

Strong technical capability, commercial awareness, and team engagement skills.
