We work closely with product and technology teams to ensure our platforms meet the evolving needs of our audiences.
This role can be based from any of our nine European locations.
The Difference you will make
As a Senior Back-End Engineer, youâll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Bauerâs digital platforms. Youâll lead the development of client-agnostic services, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across teams to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing systems. Your work will directly impact millions of users across Europe, helping us deliver seamless audio experiences. This is a senior role where your technical expertise and leadership will be trusted and valued.
Your role
Youâll be responsible for leading development efforts, mentoring team members, and ensuring our systems are robust, scalable, and aligned with business goals.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain back-end services using Go, TypeScript, PHP, and SQL.
Lead small feature-driven sub-teams and mentor junior engineers.
Collaborate with product and technology teams to align development with customer needs.
Champion DevOps practices under a âyou build it, you run itâ model.
Participate in incident management rotas and provide technical support.
Contribute to recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
Ensure high standards of security, performance, and resilience across systems.
The Skills you will bring
Required:
Proven experience mentoring and leading development teams.
Strong proficiency in Go, TypeScript, PHP, and SQL.
Deep understanding of AWS, Cloudflare, and DevOps principles.
Experience with microservices architecture and API design.
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
High emotional intelligence and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
Desired:
Experience in the media or audio streaming industry.
Familiarity with incident management and 24/7 support environments.
Technical writing and documentation skills.
Working Pattern/Location
This is a permanent, full-time role based in the United Kingdom, with remote working as standard. Participation in incident management rotas is required.
