Job Summary:

The Technical Product Manager, Tax Product Development (Manager) is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of stable and efficient technology solutions that optimize application delivery across production, test, and development environments throughout the development lifecycle. This role requires a blend of deep technical and software engineering expertise combined with technical management skills. The Manager plays a critical role in guiding the development and implementation of complex features and solutions that support the tax practice and enhance service delivery to clients. With a solid foundation in system design and professional-grade software product development, this role requires effective collaboration across global teams and cross-functional groups in a hybrid (in-person and virtual) work environment.

Job Duties:

Oversees design, development, and testing of software solutions using web and cloud technologies for innovative tax products, applying modern software engineering principles throughout the software lifecycle

Develops and maintains large-scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect, and standardize data, generating insights and addressing reporting needs

Ensures data pipelines are scalable, repeatable, and secure

Anticipates and prevents problems and roadblocks before they occur, ensuring a smooth and efficient development process

Collaborates with various teams, including internal tax developers, external peers, and data scientists, to deliver quality tax software products and prepare data for model development

Facilitates integration solutions and ensures data quality and accessibility standards are met

Participates in project review process, collaborating with project management team to ensure all projects are completed within the assigned timeframe

Clarifies requirements from business owners, and facilitates meetings to discuss project requirements as needed

Works with project management team to determine resource hour estimates for new projects, prioritize the development team’s project workload, and confirm and allocate resource plans

Leads the design and implementation of major systems and features within an Agile team focused on tax solutions, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives, and fulfills the role of Scrum Master by facilitating Agile ceremonies and removing impediments

Mentors junior engineers to enhance code quality and ensure compliance with standards in tax product development

Maintains tax products and platforms based on product roadmaps, production support processes, and compliance with IT, security, and business mandates

Designs operational processes and guides for modern technology programs, researches advanced development topics and modern technology for potential implementation, and devises strategic plans for resolving issues while maintaining system integrity

Coordinates and organizes efforts and follow-up for items stemming from team meetings, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with strategic objectives

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:

Bachelor's degree, required; focus in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), Finance, or Accounting, preferred

Experience:

Six (6) or more years of hands-on experience with building web-based applications using front-end and full stack skills, including C#, ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, Typescript), React or similar, preferred

Six (6) or more years of experience in developing stored procedures and database schemas utilizing SQL Server, Azure SQL, and NOSQL databases, preferred

S ix (6) or more years of hands-on experience with low code technologies such as Power Apps, Power Automate, PowerBI, Alteryx, and other relevant tools, leveraging these platforms to accelerate development and enhance business solutions, preferred

Six (6) or more years of experience in software development, supporting, and troubleshooting applications and cloud products, required

Six (6) or more years of experience in designing and automating CI/CD/DevOps Pipelines, preferred

Six (6) or more years of experience working with Microsoft Azure and Azure Portal, preferred

Expertise in writing clean code, leading code reviews, minimizing technical debt, and establishing coding standards and best practices within a team, preferred

Extensive understanding of Agile solution development, with experience in analyzing business requirements and process design, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement within a team, preferred

Tax experience, preferred

Experience in a professional services firm, preferred

License/Certifications:

Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (Az-900), PMP , or Azure Solutions Architect, preferred

Software:

Experience with the following products, preferred:

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Microsoft Visual Studio

  • Microsoft Azure DevOps or GitHub

  • Microsoft SQL Server and/or Azure SQL DB

  • Microsoft Power BI and PowerApps

  • Alteryx, Tableau, Figma,

  • Azure functions

  • HTTP Debug Tools

Proficient with scripting tools such as PowerShell, Graph API, and Azure CLI, preferred

Experienced with Monitoring Tools like App Monitoring, App Insights, and Power BI, preferred

Other Knowledge, Skills, \& Abilities:

Strong technical management skills, with the ability to oversee and integrate complex technical projects, manage cross-functional teams, and drive product strategy and execution in alignment with organizational objectives

Ability to work well in hybrid and remote environments

Solid verbal and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills, including training/instruction with professionals at all levels

Sound decision-making skills

Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment while handling multiple complex projects/tasks simultaneously with a focus on details

Capable of successfully multi-tasking while working independently or within a group environment

Ability to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

Ability to lead and mentor a team of software engineers, with experience in project management and delivering complex software projects on time, while aligning software development with business goals and strategic vision

Proficient in applying software engineering and object-oriented programming principles, with strong experience in software design, algorithms, data structures, data modeling, and design patterns

Capable of working well under pressure while dealing with unexpected problems in a professional manner

Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of employees and management

National Range: $140,000 - $210,000

Maryland Range: $140,000 - $210,000

NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $140,000 - $210,000
