Systems Engineer (Troy, MI)

Job Summary \- The Systems Engineer is responsible for system architectural design, solution deployments, cloud platform governance, and occasional escalation support for both hardware and software issues when Systems Administrators need guidance or when emergencies dictate their involvement.

The Support Department at BeneSys can be characterized as fast paced with shifting priorities and sudden issues that need to be balanced with “road map” projects. The technician is expected to be able to adapt to this environment and produce results with a self\-starter mentality while maintaining a collaborative outlook. The technician will always represent themselves, the department, and the company with the highest level of professionalism.

Essential Responsibilities include but not limited to

Act as primary point\-of\-contact on IT Infrastructure specific projects that require cross\-departmental collaboration

Server and systems creation, configuration, and initial maintenance in support of solution design and deployment

Primary point\-of\-contact on network configuration changes

  • Requiring coordination with Cybersecurity team and MSP

Azure cloud deployments, automation, configuration, and maintenance

Responsible for designing integrations with 3rd party systems/services/software

Support Cybersecurity team with infrastructure configuration

Configure and monitor backup systems to ensure consistent backups are completing successfully – remediate issues and call upon vendor support as necessary when issues arise

Update, adjust, and re\-configure security/functionality patching automation to ensure that it is running correctly for all endpoints

Provide support for Systems Administrators when adjustments to imaging system and software deployments require advanced configuration

Document procedures and configuration in a detailed manner

Participate in monthly Maintenance Window as required

Provide support for escalated tickets when Systems Administrators need assistance

Debugging, troubleshooting, function analysis

Conduct training/mentoring for other IT Admins and End Users as required

Perform security permission changes/additions/deletions for all platforms

Participate in software packaging for deployment to endpoints

Maintain required support logs/alerts

Handle third\-party support calls for servers and network equipment

Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality

Comply with documented procedures, practices, and policies

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job

Qualifications

8\+ years of experience engineering/administrating in Microsoft Environments (Entra, AD, Windows, Multi\-site, Group Policy)

4\+ years of experience engineering/administrating in Cloud Environments (Multi\-subscription, VNet/VPC peering, Optimization choices between VMs, storage accounts, app services, VDI, and automation)

4\+ years of experience engineering/administrating in VMware Virtualization technologies (storage pools, HA/DRS, provisioning automation)

4\+ years of experience in ECM/Configuration Manager knowledge

Powerful grasp and use of PowerShell

Powerful troubleshooting methodology/ability

Strong understanding of Cloud, Hybrid, and On\-Prem environments along with the pros and cons of selecting best location for proposed solutions

Strong understanding of O365 platforms and features (SharePoint, Entra, Azure AD, Conditional Access, Teams, and Exchange)

Strong understanding of software/update deployment methodologies

Familiarity with MDM/MAM/EMM

Familiarity with SSO integrations

Familiarity with IIS web hosts

Familiarity with PKI

Mindful of security best practices in solution implementation

Soft Skill Qualifications

Must be “team\-collaborative” but also “self\-driven”

Quick learner and willing teacher

Ability to shift priorities in the face of unexpected changes to business needs

Good “bed\-side manner” with users

Ability to summarize events, incidents, projects, and obstacles in a concise manner

Courteous, punctual, and proactively communicative

Bonus Qualifications

VDI and RemoteApp familiarity is a bonus

Endpoint Configuration Manager (aka. Intune/SCCM)

AZ\-104/AZ\-305 certifications

Citrix CCA, CCP, CCE

Work ScheduleFull\-time. Monday – Friday, 8:00am \- 5:00pm. Requires in\-office days but also offers at\-home flexibility after 90 days.

1 Day In\-Office Required PER WEEK Minimum \- BeneSys maintains an on\-premises datacenter and this position requires that applicants must be able to be present in the office at least 1 day a week to ensure system uptime and/or proper triage in case of an outage or emergency. Temporarily increased availability onsite may be asked on occasion to support special projects/needs. These requirements are superseded by up\-front, mutually agreed upon negotiations, when a System Engineer cannot be feasibly onsite consistently due to location or other restrictions.

1 Day PER MONTH on WEEKENDS \- 1 day per month on a weekend established by the team for Maintenance and Patch rollout will be required.
