The Role
The Senior Manager Cloud TechOps Object Storage leads an operations team responsible for cloud object storage services. The role is based in Berlin and reports to the Director of Cloud TechOps.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of 5-10 operations engineers, fostering ownership, excellence, and professional growth
Lead the creation, execution, and automation of operational processes for cloud object storage to ensure scalability and efficiency
Ensure cloud object storage services meet availability, performance, and security targets, implementing robust monitoring and incident response procedures
Drive continuous improvement of operational frameworks, tools, and methodologies, staying abreast of industry best practices
Promote adoption of AI in operations automation and cloud object storage operations for efficiency and predictive capabilities
Define operational processes, standards, and metrics for all object storage services
Drive incident response, root-cause analysis, verification of fixes, and problem management across development and operations teams
Collaborate with product owners to embed operational considerations early in development, ensuring operability and maintainability
Report operational status, risks, and progress to the Director of Cloud Operations and senior leadership
Contribute to defining service-level objectives (SLOs) and agreements (SLAs) from an operational perspective
Key Interactions
Work closely with Cloud Technology Object Storage teams to maintain and optimize the software stack
Engage with Customer Service teams to ensure timely communication and resolution of issues
Coordinate with Product Management to align operational efforts with product strategy
Collaborate with Cloud Security teams to maintain secure operations and compliance standards
The Candidate
6+ years in cloud operations, preferably managing cloud object storage solutions like CEPH, Cloudian, MinIO, or SeaweedFS at scale
4+ years leading operations teams of 5-10 engineers, motivating and developing high-performing teams
Proven track record of establishing and scaling automated operational frameworks and CI/CD integration
Early adopter of AI in operations automation
Strong knowledge of IaaS and PaaS offerings and related operational challenges
Hands-on experience with performance, security, and compliance monitoring tools
Degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German
Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to influence cross-functional stakeholders
Located in, or willing to relocate to, Berlin, Germany
