Job Description

ERP Software Engineer (.Net / Full-Stack)

Location: Dublin / Remote

Department: Engineering

Reports to: CTO / Product Manager

About Big Red Book

Big Red Book is on a mission to modernise how SMBs manage their finances, people, and operations.

We’re transforming a trusted local accounting brand into a connected platform that unites accounting, payroll, and inventory — giving small businesses the tools that big companies take for granted, without the complexity or cost.

Our next chapter starts with ERP engineering excellence — and that’s where you come in.

About the Role

As a Software Engineer, you’ll help rebuild the foundation of a product that’s becoming the operational heart of the Big Red suite linking jobs, people, and finances in one place.

You’ll work at the intersection of modernisation and innovation: stabilising today’s systems while preparing for a future of AI-assisted onboarding, seamless integrations, and modular microservices.

As a Software Engineer at Big Red Book, you’ll play a key role in strengthening and modernising our Turbo Inventory.com product. In your first 6–12 months, your primary focus will be on improving the foundation of the product - tackling technical debt, refining CI/CD pipelines, enhancing performance, and refactoring legacy code to modern standards.

This role requires a developer who enjoys solving deep, structural problems as much as building new features. You’ll collaborate closely with Product and Support teams to ensure our platform is reliable, maintainable, and ready for scalable feature growth in the future.

Near-term priorities:

Strengthen developer documentation to support onboarding and reduce codebase risk.

Improve build and deployment pipelines for faster, safer releases.

Address technical debt, bug fixes, and refactoring to stabilise the platform.

· Laying the groundwork for future automation and feature development.

Your Responsibilities

Contribute to the evolution of Turbo Inventory into a scalable, multi-tenant, API-first platform integrated with Accounting and Payroll.

Feature Development: Build and enhance product functionality in the Turbo Inventory product

Codebase Modernisation: Refactor legacy systems, improve performance, and ensure best practices.

Collaboration: Work with Product, Support, and Customer Success to design solutions based on customer needs.

Quality Assurance: Write clean, maintainable code with strong test coverage.

Documentation: Contribute to developer documentation and internal knowledge-sharing.

What Success Looks Like

Turbo Inventory deploys faster, with fewer bugs and a cleaner architecture that supports multi-tenant growth.

Customers experience smoother onboarding and greater reliability thanks to engineering improvements you helped implement.

Developers joining after you can build on your work, not rebuild it.

What We’re Looking For

Experience: 3–5 years in SaaS Product development, ideally with ERP/accounting/payroll platforms.

Core Skills:

Backend: C#, .NET Framework / .NET Core

Database: Microsoft SQL Server (queries, procedures, optimisation). Experience with ORM (Entity Framework, Dapper)

Frontend: JavaScript / TypeScript, React (or equivalent modern frameworks)

APIs: RESTful API design, integration with third-party services

Cloud \& DevOps: Familiarity with Azure, Docker, CI/CD pipelines

Version Control: Git / TFVC

Mindset:

Analytical, detail-oriented, and pragmatic problem solver. Comfortable working under architectural oversight to execute modernization tasks, ensuring consistency and reducing technical debt.

Collaboration:

Strong communication skills; ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Bonus

: Experience modernising legacy codebases, optimising performance at scale, or working with financial/accounting applications.

Why it matters:

Every feature you ship helps thousands of Irish SMEs spend less time on admin and more on growing their business.

You’ll join a small, high-impact team modernising a product that sits at the centre of Ireland’s digital-SME ecosystem — a challenge with real societal value.

Why it’s exciting:

Opportunity to rebuild an ERP-lite platform end-to-end.

Influence product direction across accounting, payroll, and operations.

Be part of a funded, long-term transformation backed by Ishikawa Technologies and Melior Equity Partners.

Benefits:

Competitive salary (€50,000+)

Fully remote (no office)

Health Insurance

Pension

Training and development budget

Team-building events
