Overview:
BigBear.ai is seeking a Mid-Level Back End Developer to build, enhance, and support backend systems and APIs. This role involves independently contributing to development tasks while also partnering closely with product and DevOps teams.
What You Will Do:
Develop, improve, and maintain scalable backend services using Python and Flask
Design and implement RESTful APIs and integration points
Work with AWS for application hosting, storage, and service orchestration
Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation
Optimize application performance and resolve production issues
Contribute to architectural discussions and propose technical improvements
What you need to have:
Bachelor's Degree and 5 to 8 years of experience
Proficiency in Python and experience building applications with Flask
Hands-on experience with AWS (e.g., Lambda, EC2, S3, API Gateway, RDS)
Solid understanding of API development and backend architecture
Ability to work independently and handle tasks end-to-end
What we'd like you to have:
Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB
Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
Understanding of microservices, containerization (Docker), or orchestration tools (Kubernetes)
Knowledge of asynchronous frameworks or messaging systems
Experience writing automated tests or using testing frameworks (pytest, unittest)
