In this role you will build the best in class payment experience for our travelers. You will be a critical player to ensure the next phase of growth and transformation. This person will be a key member of the Booking.com Fintech Products Leadership team, accelerating the ‘’connected trip’’ for Booking.com and ensuring travelers will have a choice on how and when they would like to pay. Of course this has incredible complexity given the nature of the travel business and our business model.

The Fintech business unit at Booking.com (+900 FTE) is a growing payment company within Booking.com that became a strategic priority and enabler of the company's mission towards the connected trip. We are one of the top 5 global payment merchants operating with high volume and scale. Fintech plays a vital part in scaling our accommodation business (payments via hotels), flights, insurance, attractions and at the core of delivering the ‘connected trip’ to our customers. With fintech at Booking.com we ensure that it's easier for travelers to book, to feel comfortable and safe (globally) and make it easier for partners to work with us as part of their business (and make their business smoother).

Creating payment experiences is a big responsibility and a big challenge, but we have a real opportunity to have a true impact, solve real problems and enable travellers to experience the world. This can vary from setting the right expectations in regards to payment terms, offering the right BNPL and APMs, solving FX, supporting discounts and marketing initiatives, integrating with global and local PSPs, optimizing unit economics and much more. For this we are looking for an experienced Global Traveler Payments Product Director! As the leader of this critical position you will be a strong people manager with expertise in Product management and Fintech Experience working in highly global B2C environments with high traffic sites.

This Traveler Payments Product Director will be responsible for setting the vision, strategy, roadmap and execution to build the best in class Traveler payment experiences, achieve our main objectives and critical metrics and support our internal clients.

This role is located in Amsterdam and leads a team of product managers through 2 layers of management. The role reports to the Senior Director of Product for Fintech. You will also collaborate with the Fintech Leadership team, commercial teams, operations and finance teams \& 3rd party vendors. Your internal stakeholders are the accommodations business unit, attractions, flights, insurance cars, the financial systems teams and more. Cross functionally you will collaborate with Internal accounting, payouts, fraud, risk and payment operations.

Role And Responsabilities

Define and Own Product Strategy and Vision: Set the overall strategic direction and long-term vision for the Traveler Payments portfolio, ensuring it aligns with the broader business objectives and company mission.

Manage Product Profitability \& Commercial Success: Take ownership of the product's commercial success, including developing and presenting business cases, setting the pricing strategy, and monitoring key financial targets.

Drive Payments Ecosystem Partnerships: Partner directly with commercial teams to understand and participate in negotiations with key external partners, including Payment Service Providers (PSPs), Payment Networks (Visa/Mastercard, etc.), and Value-Added Services.

Drive Market and Customer Insight: Direct or conduct continuous market research, competitive analysis, and product discovery to identify new opportunities, anticipate customer needs, and drive innovation that ensures market leadership.

Own Regulatory Technology (RegTech) Strategy: Have end-to-end responsibility for the regulatory technology track, developing products and technology to ensure Booking.com’s compliance with different global regulations.

Expert Regulatory Analysis: Understand payment regulation (e.g., PSD2, specific country mandates) and analyze its complex impact on Booking.com’s business model and operations.

Market-Specific Payment Strategy: Work with Product Marketing and local partner services to define the market-specific payment strategy for payments, leveraging deep background in the payments industry to optimize for local user behavior and regulations.

Lead and Mentor Product Teams: Build, hire, coach, and mentor a high-performing team of Product Managers, fostering a culture of accountability and data-driven decision-making.

Coach Payments Expertise: Actively coach the team on the technical intricacies of the payment ecosystem, P\&L management, alternate payment methods (APMs), and PCI compliance standards.

Executive Communication and Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the primary liaison to senior leadership, presenting strategic progress, securing budget investment, managing expectations, and ensuring alignment across all departments (Business units, Marketing, Finance and more).

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate and secure synergy among Engineering, Design, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and more, to ensure successful, timely, and high-quality product execution and launch.

Drive Leadership Development: Empower and guide senior team members to drive their own product areas effectively and develop the next generation of product leaders within the organization.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

As the product leader of this critical position you will be a strong people manager with expertise in Product management and Fintech.

Significant years of Product leadership experience within high traffic sites (100,000+ visitors per day), preferably global e-commerce or marketplace companies

Subject matter expertise in the Fintech industry is a MUST (minimum 5 years), market, trends, PSPs, solutions specifically on the consumer payments aspect of the industry, from the UX to the mechanics of global acquiring and money movements.

Experience with leading leaders and coaching senior product managers, product managers and Group product managers

Affinity and excitement around back end technology challenges related to the product craft.

Proven experience with business senior management alignment and collaboration across different BUs and locations, Including payments compliance, payments fraud, payments legal team.

Experience and familiarity with building end-to-end experiences in sophisticated environments, marketplace platforms, and programs that have been successfully adopted by the ecosystem

Subject matter expertise in Product Management with a consistent track record of building successful innovative and scalable products - vision, strategy and roadmap

Ability to have discourse and debate with engineering leadership on key topics.

KPIs/objectives setting, ideation and implementation process, team alignment with business goals

Experience working with multiple senior collaborators (finance, budgeting, team management, recruitment, external customers)

Experience working with product and tech departments and cross functional senior team members

Leading through influence with collaborators including senior executives within the company and with external stakeholders in the payments industry.

Skillful use of testing and data to move quickly

JOBS TO BE DONE / OBJECTIVES:

Onboard successfully into the complex product ecosystem which is Booking.com and Fintech specifically.

Content \& Team Leadership - Product Leadership in the Fintech Payment traveler and RegTech domain, establish strong people management practices, and ensure all direct reports have defined development plans and clear processes in place.

Roadmap Delivery - Successfully deliver agreed milestones of the 2026 Fintech roadmap, ensuring timely execution, cross-functional alignment, and measurable impact on product outcomes. That includes work on topics such as: Supporting our Regulatory licenses launches, Launching of multiple new payment markets, completing multiple major technical revamps of some of our critical products, improve our fintech P\&L by optimizing pay-in related unit economics, introduce APMs in multiple different key markets and much more.

Collaboration \& Contribution - By end of 2026, build strong collaboration channels with Tech and Booking.com stakeholders, contributing to the overall Fintech Product department strategy and delivering demonstrable value to the organization.
