The Role
We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to take ownership of technical quality across key parts of the BookingTimes platform. This role is responsible for maintaining, improving and strengthening a live system alongside our established team of developers.
This is a hands-on senior leadership role. The proper candidate will be able to design, review, and implement changes with autonomy and sound engineering judgment as well as constructively help the team do the same..
The candidate will:
Design and extend production modules in a live environment
Improve performance, reliability, and maintainability across the stack
Diagnose and resolve complex SQL Server performance and data issues
Review code and raise overall engineering standards
Make pragmatic architectural decisions within an established system
Provide deep technical insight when collaborating with support and product stakeholders
This role is not a junior or entry level position.
Required Experience
Strong professional experience
using
ASP.NET, VB.NET \& Javascript
Strong SQL Server expertis, including understanding execution plans, indexing strategies, and performance tuning
Experience maintaining \& extending large, long-lived codebases
Ability to produce and review sound technical designs
Confidence to push back on poor technical decisions when necessary and offer alternative options
5+ years of senior level technical experience supporting production systems.

Location \& Work Style
Full-time role
Invercargill-based preferred. Remote is possible for the right candidate.
Salary
NZD $120,000 – $155,000, depending on demonstrated seniority and capability
