This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer to join our consulting team, working with clients to define and deliver enterprise-wide data architecture, governance, and modern data platform outcomes.
This full-time position is based in Perth, Western Australia.
Responsibilities:
Build and operate end-to-end data pipelines in
Microsoft Fabric
(pipelines, notebooks/Spark, lakehouse/warehouse) to deliver reliable ingestion and transformation.
Implement lakehouse patterns (e.g., Bronze/Silver/Gold) with strong standards for naming, partitioning, incremental loads and performance.
Develop analytics-ready data models (dimensional/conformed structures where appropriate) that support consistent reporting and KPI logic.
Design and implement integration patterns (batch and API-based ingestion; incremental/CDC-style approaches where required).
Enable high-performing reporting by producing semantic-model-friendly datasets and working with BI teams on definitions, refresh behaviour and usability.
Embed security-by-design in data solutions (least privilege, controlled access to workspaces/data, secure connectivity practices).
Monitor, troubleshoot and improve production workloads (data quality checks, failure handling, alerting, SLA-driven operations).
Maintain clear engineering documentation (runbooks, mappings, pipeline logic, dataset definitions) and contribute to delivery planning with stakeholders.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or similar.
Microsoft Fabric experience (mandatory) across core data engineering components (lakehouse/warehouse, pipelines, notebooks/Spark).
Strong SQL and solid experience delivering datasets that support Power BI semantic models and performant reporting.
Proven experience with ETL/ELT, data modelling for analytics, and operating data pipelines in production.
Understanding of data security fundamentals (access controls/identity concepts; secure data handling).
Familiarity with DevOps ways of working (Git, CI/CD concepts for data assets).
Strong stakeholder communication and ability to translate reporting needs into practical data deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cloud certifications (Azure/AWS/GCP – architecture and/or data specialisations)
Experience with data governance practices (data quality, metadata, lineage, privacy, access controls)
Consulting experience delivering outcomes across multiple clients and industries
Experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Synapse, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift) and transformation/orchestration tools (e.g., dbt, ADF, Airflow)
This role will be based in Perth with some travel; and will be a full-time position.
