At Breadcrumb, weâre building technology that makes worksites safer, more connected, and more compliant - trusted by leading construction and industrial businesses globally.
Weâre looking for a
Senior DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer
to take the lead in shaping the stability, performance, and evolution of our platform. This is very much a hands-on, technically deep role where youâll own critical infrastructure, influence engineering practices, and help us build the foundations of a world-class tech organisation. If you love solving complex problems and are keen to help drive engineering excellence in a high-growth environment, weâd love to meet you.
What Youâll Do
Maintain, improve, and modernise our Development, QA, Staging \& Production environments, CI/CD platforms, delivery pipelines and artifact storage systems.
Deploy, upgrade, and tune internal tooling and shared services for engineering teams.
Ensure reliability and performance across our tech stack through patching, observability improvements, incident response, and proactive monitoring.
Dig deep into unfamiliar areas when needed - solving real-world problems with pragmatism and curiosity.
Lead infrastructure migrations, security hardening initiatives, and platform upgrades.
Build internal tooling that enhances developer experience and reduces operational friction.
Select and implement appropriate deployment strategies such as blue-green and canary release patterns by collaborating with development squads and commercial teams.
Improve validation earlier in the delivery lifecycle, strengthen testability of systems, and reduce the chances of production issues.
Influence engineering squads with best practice guidance across software delivery, infrastructure, and reliability.
Provide expert support to product teams, promoting scalability, performance, automation, and reliability thinking.
Coach engineering teams and help build DevOps/SRE maturity across the business.
Evaluate new technologies, contribute ideas, test solutions, and help shape the long-term engineering roadmap.
Continuously refine our infrastructure to stay modern, secure, developer-friendly, and cost-effective.
Who weâre looking for
A highly capable, hands-on SRE or DevOps engineer who excels in fast-paced, product-led tech environments. Someone who loves to experiment with a continuous-improvement mindset, is process-aware but not process-bound, and thrives in scale-up culture where collaboration, agility, and ownership matter.
Youâll thrive in this role if you:
Have solid experience across both software and infrastructure - ideally with strong Infrastructure as Code experience with tools like Pulumi or Terraform. C# and/or TypeScript experience is a bonus.
Have built and maintained delivery pipelines of various shapes and constraints.
Understand the full software development lifecycle and have partnered closely with product engineers.
Have experience in high-availability SaaS platforms.
Can design, maintain, and troubleshoot Kubernetes, containers, cloud services, and CI/CD pipelines.
Are strong with *nix fundamentals and comfortable with tools like bash, grep, sed, jq, curl, or equivalent.
Are comfortable supporting engineers, answering technical questions, and advising on best practices and enjoy supporting others.
Enjoy switching contexts and tackling a wide range of practical engineering problems.
Can work independently while being deeply collaborative, pragmatic, and solutions-first.
Stay curious, evaluate new tech thoughtfully, and love automation wherever it makes sense.
Bonus Points For:
Experience with Azure and AWS.
Exposure to security engineering and partnering with security teams.
Prior scale-up or startup experience (you enjoy speed, ambiguity, and impact).
Why Youâll Love Working Here
Weâre an ambitious, high-performing team building technology that makes a difference.
You will have the opportunity to truly own your craft with autonomy to architect, implement, and evolve how we run and deploy software.
Make a visible impact - improving reliability, performance and developer experience across the business.
The genuine opportunity to thrive personally and professionally in a supportive, collaborative environment that values balance and wellbeing.
We invest in our teamsâ wellbeing and professional development with support that includes paid mental health days off, an EAP, annual individual professional and personal growth funding.
Flexibility to work hybrid or fully remote within Australia.
A culture that values curiosity, innovation, and doing great work together to achieve collective success.
