About the Position
My client is seeking an experienced Product Owner to join our Payments and Innovation Product Management team in Dublin. This is a technically hands-on role operating within a SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) delivery model, working across globally distributed agile feature teams. The successful candidate will take content authority over complex software delivery in a regulated financial environment, with a particular focus on payments modernisation and integration.
Key Responsibilities
Own and maintain a prioritised backlog of epics, features and user stories, ensuring a consistent pipeline of ready work across programme increments
Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to define requirements and translate these into clear acceptance criteria
Act as the primary point of contact for all product-related queries, bridging business and engineering teams
Participate in PI planning events, presenting product vision, roadmap and key milestones to technical and business audiences
Lead architecture discussions in a financial services environment, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure and compliant
Accept features and epics as done, with authority to make real-time decisions on scope and requirements
Provide design and modelling documentation in support of software application development
Ensure all delivery meets functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, including code quality and unit test standards
Build and maintain a strong internal network across a globally distributed, matrixed organisation
Support sound risk management practices and demonstrate individual accountability throughout the product lifecycle
Experience/Requirements
Proven experience as a Product Owner or Technical Product Manager, ideally within a large-scale financial institution or similarly regulated environment
Strong payments domain knowledge — experience with payment processing, messaging standards (e.g. ISO 20022), or payments modernisation programmes is essential
Experience working within SAFe or other scaled agile frameworks, with a solid understanding of PI planning, backlog management, and feature-level prioritisation
Ability to capture and articulate clear, unambiguous functional and non-functional requirements for both business and technical audiences
Proficiency with agile tooling, particularly Jira and Confluence
Demonstrated ability to lead senior-level discussions and influence stakeholders across a complex, matrixed organisation
Strong understanding of wholesale banking domains such as deposits, payments, liquidity management, or treasury is advantageous
Desirable
Knowledge of core banking platforms and their integration patterns
Familiarity with event-driven architecture and distributed systems
Exposure to observability tools (e.g. Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana)
SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification or equivalent agile qualification
Remuneration Package
A generous daily rate on offer in line with experience.
