Position Overview

As part of the talented Product team, you will work among awesome marketers, engineers, designers, and developers in a fast-paced environment that owns the consumer solutions for the following leading marine electronics brands; Simrad, B\&G, Lowrance and C-MAP.

The Digital Product Owner is responsible for identifying and implementing an industry leading digital experience for Navico Group’s digital products. This person will work closely with Software Developers, UX/UI Designers, Systems Architects, Product Managers, and Software Delivery Managers in a cross functional mission to design, deliver and enhance Navico Group’s software experiences.

The role demands consumer obsession, principled thinking, well-honed product judgment, a stubborn refusal to settle, a high design bar and a mentality of starting with the user experience and working backwards. We are looking for a product owner that loves leading software development teams, excels in agile delivery, and understands software experience on consumer products (physical electronic devices) 
 plus has a personal passion for boating, sailing, and/or fishing.

This position exists to ensure we are making the best possible use of software resources and producing features in a logical and prioritized manner.

Maximize the value of the product resulting from the work of the software development team

Partner with cross functional teams to define/prioritize consumer use cases to accelerate realizing experiences that deliver a high consumer value proposition

Turns customer pains and problems into actionable user stories, prioritize the user stories, and arranges user stories in the product backlog

Constructs and prioritizes production processes to ensure that the development team is clear on what to work on next and ensure requirements are well documented, understood and delivered against

Attends all agile and scrum meetings to ensure that development work is aligned with the roadmap set by the product manager

Communicates the voice of the customer to the development team

Provides feedback on the validated roadmap to the product manager \& other stakeholders

Define and deliver amazing customer digital experiences through the on-board electronics

Support the Go-to-Market process and deliverables for digital feature launches working in conjunction with cross functional partners

Ensure new product launches occur on-time, on-budget, and with maximum marketplace impact

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications

3+ years of digital product (software) development, working with agile processes in scrum team

Prior work with software experience for physical devices such as Smart home devices, Automotive Infotainment, Telematics products, or software used in commercial or industrial equipment.

Strong demonstrated track-record of guiding new product development from customer insight to product launch, preferably focused on the delivery of the software experience on a physical device or machine.

Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence and drive alignment among stakeholders across all levels and functions.

Technology and innovation enthusiast with wide-ranging technical knowledge experience and interest in technology trends and developments.

Preferred Qualifications

Digital Product Owner certifications is preferred (such as CSPO, or CSM)

A passion for boating, sailing, fishing or all of the above

Working Conditions

Hybrid working conditions with a brand-new office in Auckland with flexibility for some working remotely

While a background in boating is not required, this role will require you to regularly spend time on the water, so you’ll need to be comfortable on and around boats
