Ready to lead? We're hiring a Software Development Team Lead to drive our development excellence. Guide a talented team, tackle complex challenges, and grow your leadership skills. Competitive salary + benefits package.

If this is you and you are ready to take the next step in your career by shaping projects, mentoring colleagues, and driving innovation in a fast-paced Agile environment, while still staying hands-on with coding and solution design, apply now!

BW Legal isn't your average law firm. As a Gold-accredited Investors in People employer, we're proud of our supportive, high-performing IT Development team. You will report directly to the Development Manager and lead one of our teams, working alongside our Testing Team Manager. We're committed to providing comprehensive training, ongoing development, and meaningful recognition to help every colleague thrive.

About the role:

As a Software Development Team Lead, you'll combine hands-on coding with team leadership to deliver applications and systems that drive impact across the business. Leading a talented group of developers and testers, you'll provide technical direction, oversee resources, and support professional growth through mentoring and training.

You'll work on Agile projects that are critical to our success, designing and building web applications, APIs, and automated solutions that improve processes for both internal teams and external stakeholders. Alongside shaping solutions and championing best practice, you'll play a key role in defining architectures and keeping the team at the forefront of new technologies.

This is a role where you'll balance leadership with innovation: guiding your team, solving complex problems, and helping to push technology forward to deliver value for the business.

What sets us apart?

We're proud to be named Investors in People 'Employer of the Year' 2024 (Gold) - and for good reason. Our accredited and award-winning learning and development programme supports your growth at every stage of your career. You'll benefit from job security, clear progression opportunities, and a generous package of financial rewards and colleague benefits.

What you will be doing:

Providing technical leadership to a team of developers and testers, ensuring the delivery of real value to the business

Line managing the team, allocating resources effectively and supporting their growth

Identifying training needs, overseeing in-house training, and mentoring team members to build capability

Designing and developing new web applications for both internal and external stakeholders using ASP.Net

Creating and supporting RESTful APIs to enable seamless integrations

Writing high-quality, maintainable, and well-structured code

Enhancing and extending existing applications and websites with new features and functionality

Ensuring all projects and applications comply with data protection and security standards

Keeping up to date with emerging technologies and applying them to improve practices

Leading and managing Scrum and Agile ceremonies, driving collaboration and progress

Championing best practice in coding, architecture, and delivery

Supporting and mentoring less experienced colleagues to help them develop their skills

Collaborating on the discussion, design, and definition of solutions and system architectures

What we're looking for:

2+ years of experience leading a multi-skilled development team

3+ years of experience with ASP.Net Core (C#)

2+ years of experience with a reactive JavaScript framework (experience with Vue.js and Vuetify is desirable)

3+ years of experience working within an Agile team environment

1+ year of experience with ORMs (Entity Framework desirable)

Strong understanding and practical application of object-oriented design principles, including SOLID

Proven ability to problem-solve independently and proactively

Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively

A proactive mindset, with an eagerness to learn and adopt new technologies

A collaborative and approachable leadership style

Knowledge or experience of microservices (desirable)

Familiarity with Azure DevOps (desirable)
