The Duval County Clerk of Court is seeking a motivated Data Analytics Engineer with experience in data analytics, particularly in the Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience creating and managing data pipelines in Azure and working with medallion architecture. This role suits a strong self-starter who is eager to learn, solve problems, and support the Clerk’s data initiatives.

Candidates with strong foundational skills in SQL, data modeling, and scripting who are eager to learn cloud analytics tools are also encouraged to apply.

Examples of Work

Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Microsoft Azure (Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Data Lake).

Implement Medallion architecture (Bronze-Silver-Gold layers) for structured data flow.

Write accurate and performant queries in SQL Server; validate and troubleshoot data

Performs data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes to ensure data integrity.

Automate tasks and process data using Python.

Identify and resolve data issues independently.

Collaborate with departments to understand business needs and translate them into data-driven solutions

Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and compliance policies.

Validates and ensures data accuracy in reporting systems.

Develops Power BI dashboards and reports to support decision-making.

Research solutions and communicates findings and recommendations effectively to leadership and stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in Power BI for dashboard development, data visualization, and report automation.

Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance optimization.

Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and ETL processes.

Ability to analyze large datasets and provide actionable insights.

Experience with data governance, data quality, and compliance best practices.

Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (preferred but not required).

Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals or SQL Server Certification (preferred but not required).

Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.

Open Requirements/Supplemental Information

One (1) year of experience in data engineering, analytics, or related coursework.

Proficiency in SQL, including query development, performance tuning, and working with relational databases.

Experience with ETL tools or scripting-based data integration.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Familiarity with large datasets and data transformation.

Basic programming experience (preferably Python).

Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.

Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Candidates must successfully pass the City of Jacksonville background check and fingerprint-based criminal history screening as part of the eligibility process for Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred 3-5 years of data engineering experience in an enterprise environment.

Experience with Power BI or similar visualization tools.

Knowledge of Azure Data Lake, Data Factory, and Synapse Analytics.

Proven experience building and optimizing data pipelines in cloud environments.

Familiarity with Databricks or Spark-based data processing.

Practical understanding of Medallion architecture or Lakehouse patterns.

Python proficiency.

Awareness of data governance and security best practices.
