About The Role

As a

SQL Data Engineer

, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and optimising database solutions across both on‑premises and cloud environments. You will be a valued member of the data engineering team and work collaboratively with platform engineers, data analysts, and cross‑functional technology partners to deliver reliable, scalable data solutions.

In This Role, You Will

Develop and optimise complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.

Build and maintain ETL processes to support data ingestion, transformation, and integration.

Implement and maintain CI/CD workflows for database code using tools such as Git, Jenkins, Cloud Build, or Azure DevOps.

Collaborate with teams to support data modelling, schema design, and database architecture improvements.

Perform database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimisation to ensure system efficiency.

Support production deployments, troubleshoot database issues, and ensure database reliability.

Work with cloud‑based databases and services on GCP, including Cloud SQL and BigQuery.

Document database structures, processes, standards, and best practices.

What You Must Have To Be Considered

Strong proficiency in SQL (T‑SQL, PL/SQL, or equivalent).

Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.

Hands‑on experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.

Exposure to Google Cloud Platform services such as Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and/or Cloud Build.

Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, Informatica, or Talend.

Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data integration principles.

Familiarity with version control practices using Git.

Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.

These will help you stand out

Experience working with cloud‑native database optimisation and cost‑efficiency practices.

Knowledge of modern data engineering patterns, including ELT frameworks.

Experience collaborating within agile delivery teams.

Exposure to infrastructure‑as‑code or automation tools supporting data environments.

Strong documentation and technical communication skills.
