To scale and mature our AI capabilities within the practice management system, we are looking for a Senior AI Engineer with strong technical leadership and hands-on delivery experience.
As a Senior AI Engineer, you will take technical ownership of AI components and services integrated into our practice system. You will drive the design, implementation, and operational excellence of AI-powered features while ensuring reliability, compliance, and seamless integration into clinical and administrative workflows.
Senior AI Engineer – Practice Systems \& Clinical Intelligence (w/m)

Key Responsibilities (Senior / Technical Leadership Focus)
Own the end-to-end lifecycle of AI services, from design and implementation to production operation and continuous improvement
Design and implement scalable, production-grade AI architectures integrated into existing backend systems
Lead the development of speech-to-text and NLP / LLM-based pipelines for extraction, structuring, summarization, and generation of domain-specific content
Define and implement prompting strategies, orchestration flows, validation layers, and fallback mechanisms for LLM-based systems
Establish human-in-the-loop patterns, review workflows, and quality gates for clinically relevant AI outputs
Define and apply model evaluation, monitoring, and observability standards (accuracy, drift, latency, cost)
Ensure data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance across all AI solutions
Support and guide AI-assisted data migration and import workflows
Collaborate closely with product management, software engineering, data teams, and domain experts
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers in AI-related topics
Contribute to AI platform foundations, reusable components, and engineering best practices
Scope Clarification
This is a hands-on senior engineering role with technical ownership.
The role does not define overall product or corporate AI strategy but shapes implementation patterns, quality standards, and technical direction within an agreed framework.
Required Profile
Several years of experience as an AI Engineer, Senior ML Engineer, or Applied AI Engineer
Deep hands-on experience with NLP, speech processing, and LLM-based systems in production
Strong software engineering background (APIs, distributed systems, production deployments)
Experience designing scalable and reliable AI services
Proven ability to handle model evaluation, monitoring, and lifecycle management
Strong understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance, ideally in regulated environments
Ability to work autonomously and take technical ownership
Very good English skills (German or French is a plus)
Nice to Have
Experience in healthcare or clinical systems
Familiarity with clinical documentation standards (e.g. SOAP)
Knowledge of medical terminologies, billing, or tariff systems
Experience with human-centered or assistive AI systems
Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives
