Job Description
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer (Observability) with hands-on expertise in OpenTelemetry and Datadog to enhance our application monitoring, tracing, and observability framework. The ideal candidate should have strong technical proficiency in code-level instrumentation, metrics collection, and trace exports for distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and maintain OpenTelemetry (OTEL) instrumentation at code level for Java and Node.js applications.
Independently configure and manage OTEL Collectors/Receivers to export telemetry data to Datadog for visualization and monitoring.
Work on both metrics and traces, ensuring comprehensive observability coverage across services.
Perform custom scripting and dashboards creation in Datadog for enhanced visibility and alerting.
Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to integrate observability best practices into CI/CD pipelines.
Troubleshoot and optimize telemetry pipelines, ensuring accurate and efficient data flow.
Contribute to observability strategy, standards, and implementation documentation.
Required Skills \& Experience
5–6 years of overall experience in DevOps / Observability / Monitoring.
2–3 years of strong, relevant experience in OpenTelemetry and Datadog.
Proven experience with code-level instrumentation for Java and Node.js applications.
Hands-on experience in:

Setting up OpenTelemetry SDKs and libraries.

Implementing and configuring OTEL Receivers, Processors, and Exporters.

Integrating OTEL with Datadog for metrics and traces visualization.
Strong understanding of APM (Application Performance Monitoring) concepts.
Prior experience creating custom metrics, monitors, and dashboards in Datadog.
Solid scripting skills (Python, Shell, or similar) for automation and observability customization.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and Cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) is an added advantage.
