At CricHeroes, we’re on a mission to make grassroots cricket better and data plays a key role in that journey. Every match, every ball, and every player story adds to one of the richest cricket datasets in the world.

We’re looking for a Junior Data Scientist who is curious, analytical, and excited to solve real-world problems using data at scale. Someone who enjoys learning, asking questions, and turning raw numbers into meaningful stories for the game we all love.

The Challenge

Make cricket data useful, understandable, and impactful.

You’ll work with large, real-world datasets, matches, players, teams, and user behaviour and help the team extract insights that guide product decisions, improve user experience, and deepen understanding of the game. You’ll learn by doing, collaborate closely with senior data scientists and engineers, and grow your skills every day.

What You’ll Do

Analyze large datasets related to matches, players, teams, and user behaviour to uncover insights.

Support senior data scientists in building reports, dashboards, and basic predictive models.

Clean, validate, and transform raw data to make it analysis-ready and reliable.

Write efficient queries to extract and combine data from SQL and NoSQL databases.

Collaborate with product and engineering teams to answer business and cricket-centric questions.

Continuously learn both technically and in understanding cricket through data.

Must-Have Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.

0–1 year of experience (freshers with strong fundamentals are welcome).

Good working knowledge of Python (Pandas, NumPy, basic ML libraries).

Strong command over SQL (MySQL), including JOINs, GROUP BY, subqueries, and CTEs.

Understanding of indexes, query execution plans, and performance considerations.

Good working knowledge of MongoDB — queries, aggregation pipelines, schema design, and indexing.

Strong grasp of statistics fundamentals (mean, median, distributions, correlations, etc.).

Nice to Have

Exposure to machine learning basics (regression, classification, clustering).

Familiarity with data visualisation tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, Power BI, or Tableau.

Hands-on projects, internships, Kaggle work, or a personal portfolio.

Interest in sports analytics or cricket data.
