Job Title: Senior Devops II Engineer

Department: Product \& Technology

Location: Hybrid. Valencia, Spain is the strong preference for the location of this role. Candidates may also be considered in Madrid who are prepared to visit the Datamaran VLC hub on a semi-regular basis

Job Overview:

We are looking for a Senior II DevOps Engineer to play a key role in guiding and evolving our established DevSecOps team. This person will challenge the status quo, continuously seek improvements to our current practices, and drive innovation in how we build, deploy, and operate systems. You’ll mentor and guide other engineers, influence technical direction, and work closely with the Director of IT Operations and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient solutions while driving improvements in developer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Improve and Evolve Deployment Workflows: Lead the design and enhancement of deployment processes and CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket) to streamline delivery, increase reliability, and enable faster, safer releases.

Manage and Optimise Cloud Infrastructure: Provision, secure, and manage AWS environments using Terraform (or similar IaC tools), ensuring scalability, reliability, and adherence to best practices, while continuously monitoring and optimising for cost efficiency.

Lead Container Orchestration: Design, implement, and manage Kubernetes/EKS environments, ensuring scalable, secure, and highly available workloads.

Ensure Database Reliability and Availability: Oversee PostgreSQL infrastructure from a DevOps perspective ensuring availability, monitoring health, managing backups/restores, and supporting HA/failover strategies.

Advance Observability and Reliability Practices: Improve monitoring, logging, and alerting across applications and infrastructure using common observability stacks (Grafana, Prometheus, AWS CloudWatch), and define SLOs/SLIs with error budgets to ensure proactive detection, measurement, and resolution of issues.

Collaborate and Influence Across Teams: Partner closely with engineering, QA, security, and operations teams, fostering open communication, sharing expertise, and mentoring peers to drive continuous improvement and shared ownership of systems.

Your profile

Minimum requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

8+ years of experience in DevOps or a related role, with a strong focus on automation and cloud infrastructure

Proficiency in AWS services and best practices, with hands-on experience in: S3, CloudFront, ECS, Lambda, IAM, Cognito, Amplify, EC2, ELB/ALB, Auto Scaling, VPC, and Networking.

Experience with modern DevOps tooling, including CI/CD platforms (Bitbucket, GitLab, GitHub), container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS), and related ecosystem tools.

Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch database management

Strong reliability engineering skills, including observability stack expertise (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) and hands-on incident management with postmortem facilitation.

Strong mentorship and leadership skills in cross-functional DevOps/SRE teams.

Expertise in Terraform for IaC

Scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash)

Fluent in English

Bonus points

Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Terraform Associate)

Building and scaling DevOps teams from the ground up

Hands-on experience with security automation and DevSecOps tooling including Snyk, Trivy, OPA, Vault, AWS Security Hub, Inspector, and GuardDuty.

Experience with disaster recovery design and large-scale failover testing

Contributions to open-source DevOps/SRE projects or active participation in tech communities

Familiarity with AIOps practices such as anomaly detection, intelligent alert correlation, and automated remediation to enhance reliability and reduce operational noise
