DEIF is a globally recognised leader in developing advanced retrofit control solutions for wind turbines. Utilising state-of-the-art technology, we aim to enhance the performance of existing wind turbines for our global customer base. Over the next few years, our goal is to expand our customer base in the wind energy sector and, in this way, contribute to the green transition. Our international Wind Team is placed in Skive (HQ), Odense, Silkeborg, Rensburg (Germany), and Klagenfurt (Austria) – and now we are looking for an Application Engineer to join the team.
As our new Application Engineer, you will be part of our Sustainable Application Team, which consists of skilled and experienced application developers. The team is responsible for providing retrofit solutions for various wind turbine types and ensuring optimal performance through continuous data analytics and software improvement. Your primary focus will be on developing and testing new wind turbine applications.
Further to this, you will:
Develop turbine control code. Design, implement, and test wind turbine applications (C/C++, IEC 61131-3 Structured Text) with integration of fieldbus-based I/O and devices (e.g. CANopen, Modbus, RS-485). Perform testing and commissioning of wind turbine retrofit solutions in the lab, factory, and on site
Prepare documentation and training material and train our customers
Application Engineer with an open mind and a “can-do” spirit
As a person, you are open-minded and comfortable with working in an international team where the primary language is English. Furthermore, you must have a proactive approach to your work and good communication skills, as the position requires coordination in the team.
You’d be a perfect match for this role if you have:
A bachelor´s or master´s degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field
Excellent problem solving for complex systems and critical thinking skills
Programming experience in C/C++, IEC 61131-3 structured text or similar
Experience with industrial fieldbuses such as CANopen, Modbus, EtherCAT, or RS-485.
Ability to read electrical schematics and understand industrial installations.
Ability to work in heights (training provided)
Willingness to travel approximately 10% of your time to various international locations
It's a plus if you have:
Experience with wind turbines, power systems, or renewables.
Hands-on skills in electrical troubleshooting and commissioning,
Working knowledge of collaboration and DevOps tools such as GitLab, Jira, and Confluence.
Familiarity with AWS services (Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, EC2).
Experience with Python/Go and related data science frameworks
Location: Skive, Odense, Silkeborg (DK), Rendsburg (DE), or Klagenfurt (AT). Hybrid work is possible.
