About The Role
We are building an enterprise ERP system from scratch where AI isn't just a feature—it's the foundation. Join Deltek's Engineering and Technology team as an AI Applications Engineer to create the first truly AI-native SMB ERP. In this role, users will interact with their system via chat instead of traditional forms, and intelligent agents will autonomously handle routine tasks. You will leverage AI to write better code faster, making the system more intuitive and efficient. This greenfield project offers a unique opportunity to reimagine enterprise software with AI at the core, free from legacy constraints and technical debt. You will be responsible for delivering innovative features independently while collaborating with senior engineers who are shaping the future of software development.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related technical field
2-4 years of professional experience in software development
Proven track record of delivering production code in enterprise or SaaS environments
Experience working in agile development environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams
Proficiency in Java (Java 17+) and Python with the ability to write clean, maintainable code
Experience with Quarkus, Spring Boot, or similar enterprise Java frameworks
Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including writing optimized queries
Experience working with large language models (GPT, Claude, LLaMA) and implementing prompts in production applications
Experience developing RESTful APIs with proper authentication and error handling
Proficiency with development tools such as Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and modern IDEs
Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or OCI
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to debug complex issues
An AI-first mindset, embracing prompt engineering, conversational AI, and intelligent automation
A curiosity about natural language processing and AI ethics, with a focus on enhancing user experience
Responsibilities
Implement AI-powered ERP components using Java, Quarkus, and PostgreSQL, adhering to architectural patterns
Apply prompt engineering strategies to enhance ERP modules with natural language interfaces and conversational experiences
Integrate pre-trained machine learning models into ERP features, including data classification, predictive analytics, and workflow automation
Develop RESTful APIs connecting digital assistant services with core ERP business logic based on provided specifications
Independently own medium-complexity features from development through deployment, ensuring high code quality and performance
Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of AI-enhanced features, including integration testing and performance verification
Participate actively in code reviews, incorporating feedback and learning from senior team members
Support entry-level engineers and interns with coding questions, best practices, and technical guidance
Contribute to technical documentation for developed features and components
