Senior Platform Engineer (Software Engineer)Clerk Grade: 9/10Annual Salary Range: $129,464 - $142,665 plus superannuationEmployment Type: Temporary (12 months), Full-timeLocation: Sydney with weekly office attendance and hybrid working
The Platform Engineering team is a small, fast-paced agile team delivering modern platform enhancements and secure cloud-enabled solutions. We are currently building web applications that automatically provision secure Azure infrastructure, and we’re looking for a Platform Engineer (Software Focus) to strengthen our application and API capabilities.
This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in full-stack development, enjoys designing APIs, and is passionate about building secure, scalable software solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and Enhance Platform Applications* Build and maintain applications using TypeScript, Express, Next.js, and React.
Design and develop scalable APIs to support platform automation and infrastructure provisioning.
Contribute to reusable components and shared libraries across applications.
Implement Testing and Quality Practices* Develop and maintain automated tests using Jest and modern testing practices.
Apply sound engineering principles including modular design and maintainable code patterns.
Software Security \& Remediation* Identify and remediate software vulnerabilities across applications.
Implement secure coding practices and contribute to ongoing security uplift initiatives.
Collaborate Across Teams* Partner with cloud engineers and product teams to integrate software solutions with Azure-based infrastructure.
Contribute to architectural decisions and platform design discussions.
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Demonstrate
Strong experience developing applications using TypeScript, Express, Next.js, and React.
Experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
Solid testing experience using Jest or similar frameworks.
Experience with software security remediation and secure development practices.
Ability to work effectively in Agile teams in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Nice to Have* Experience with Azure Cloud and DevOps practices.
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
Python development experience.
Experience integrating AI solutions, including:
