The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our Business Information Systems Directorate on a fixed term basis. In this role, you will design, develop and manage robust data infrastructure that underpins the Department’s data ecosystem, enabling high‑quality analytics and informed decision‑making across the organisation. You will collaborate closely with technical and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure and high‑quality data solutions that support DTMI’s strategic objectives.

You will play a pivotal role in overseeing the data warehouse environment, driving automation and innovation in data pipeline development, and ensuring data is secure, reliable and optimised.

There is currently one fixed term position available for immediate filling for a period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension(s) or permanency.

The successful applicant or applicants assessed as suitable through this process may receive further offers of employment (fixed term or permanent) in this or similar roles for a period of twelve (12) months from date of first appointment.

About you

You are an experienced data professional who brings strong technical capability and a collaborative approach. You will demonstrate:

Proven experience designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines and enterprise data warehouse solutions.

Strong skills in data modelling, database design and programming using SQL and Python.

Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and enterprise data warehousing, including Snowflake.

Demonstrated capability implementing data governance, data quality and security frameworks.

Well‑developed analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex data issues.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
