Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role based in Dublin for a Backend Developer specializing in Node.js and NestJS. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable backend applications, building and integrating APIs, and optimizing performance and security. The developer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless communication and collaborate on delivering high-quality software solutions. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues will also be part of daily tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain backend applications, REST APIs, GraphQL, microservices, and serverless solutions.
Work with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB) and ensure high performance and responsiveness.
Collaborate with frontend teams and design APIs, data storage, and protection solutions.
Optimize code, implement security protocols, and maintain clean, testable, and reusable code.
Conduct diagnostic tests, debugging, troubleshooting, and provide technical support.
Participate in Agile processes, code reviews, and testing (Jest, Mocha, Chai).
Document processes, recommend improvements, and keep up with Node.js advancements.
Hands-on coding for mobile/web backend and microservices development.
Key Qualifications:
With 4+ years of experience with backend technologies including Node.js, NestJS, and related exposure with TypeScript/JavaScript.
Strong understanding of API design, authentication (JWT/OAuth2), microservices, event-driven architecture, and serverless architecture (AWS Lambda).
Strong knowledge of database systems such as MySQL; NoSQL: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar
Experience with Redis, RabbitMQ, or Kafka is a plus.
Understanding of software development practices including testing, debugging, and optimization
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Docker, CI/CD, and server less deployments is beneficial
Solid knowledge of OOP, design patterns, and clean code principles.
Solid problem-solving skills and a focus on clean, maintainable code
Strong problem-solving skills and debugging skills
Familiarity with frontend frameworks (React, Angular) is beneficial.
Fluent in English; good time management and ability to work with globally distributed teams.
