We’re looking for a Tech Lead Manager to join the company that works in commercial insurance. They are building an AI platform that helps insurers organize submissions, spot important risk details, and make decisions faster. The team includes people from major tech companies, and the business is supported by strong investors.
Requirements:
Has 8+ years of software engineering experience and at least 2 years managing engineers full-time.
Has led complex projects involving several teams and partners.
Has a track record of hiring strong engineers across different levels.
Can balance speed and quality, making smart tradeoffs in a fast-moving environment.
Shows determination, works hard, and takes pride in doing excellent work.
Communicates early and clearly—raising issues, asking questions, and keeping others informed.
Enjoys trying new ideas, measuring what works, and iterating quickly on tough, unclear problems.
Has solid skills in system design, debugging, and general problem-solving.
Has experience with modern front-end tools, ideally something like React.
Has worked with cloud/serverless tools and asynchronous systems.
Feels comfortable using relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
Responsibilities:
Lead a team of skilled engineers and act as a hands-on “player-coach.”
Set technical direction and guide the team toward consistent, high-quality delivery.
Mentor, support, and help grow engineers at different levels.
Build and maintain a strong, results-focused team culture.
Work within the core user-experience group to improve existing product features.
Ensure the product feels consistent, polished, and easy to use across all areas.
Refine layouts, interactions, and responsiveness to enhance day-to-day user experience.
Identify and implement performance improvements that directly benefit users.
Take ownership of a significant amount of engineering work (around 50% coding).
