Job Description

Arcadis are seeking a WWTP Engineer to support day to day operations at a leading pharmaceutical facility in Cork

The WWTP Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the water treatment plant on a daily basis. This role involves monitoring plant performance, troubleshooting operational issues, maintaining compliance with environmental regulations, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and optimize daily operations of the water treatment plant, including chemical dosing, filtration, and disinfection processes.

Safety \& Compliance: Conduct JSAs, review site standards, and ensure adherence to GMP and SOPs.

Regulatory Oversight: Monitor site license limit and implement control measures through A3 problem-solving

WWTP operations, oversee permitting and contractors and act as WWTP Lead as needed.

Environmental \& Compliance: Liaise with EHS/QA teams, manage SOPs and permitting activities.

Facility \& Maintenance Management: Oversee site maintenance, resolve technical issues, manage WWTP purchasing, stock, and deliveries

Inspections \& Audits: Coordinate and lead regulatory audits, ensure compliance with EPA license requirements

Cnduct routine inspections and performance checks on equipment and systems

Respond to operational issues and emergencies, providing timely technical support and resolution

Maintain accurate records of plant performance, maintenance activities, and compliance data

Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Support maintenance teams with troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

Ensure compliance with local and national environmental and safety regulations.

Participate in audits, inspections, and reporting activities.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.

Provide training and guidance to plant operators and junior staff

Qualifications \& Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Experience in water treatment plant operations or similar industrial environment.

Strong understanding of water treatment processes and technologies.

Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Desirable:

Experience with asset management systems (e.g., CMMS), an advantage

Certification in water treatment operations ad advantage (e.g., IWTO, EPA)

Project management experience.
