\| About the Role

This is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and championing Environment Canterbury’s marketing vision. You’ll lead evidence-based strategies that drive social and behaviour change, safeguard our brand, and integrate marketing efforts across the Communications and Engagement Group.

Key Responsibilities Include

Lead the development of evidence-based marketing strategies focused on behaviour change and core service outcomes

Safeguard and enhance our brand, reputation, and public trust through integrated, high-impact marketing initiatives

Anticipate and respond to emerging risks and opportunities, providing strategic advice to senior leaders

Driving innovation in digital production and data visualisation

Inspire and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement

Championing te ao Māori confidence \& cultural capability

About You

You’re an experienced leader who thrives in complex, outcome-focused environments. You’re passionate about making a difference, building strong partnerships, and leading innovative marketing that delivers real impact for communities and the environment.

Mātau ā Wheako \| Experience

A tertiary qualification in marketing

More than ten years’ experience in communications, marketing, with expertise in behaviour change, data visualisation, community engagement, and graphic design

At least five years’ experience leading and managing teams, with a track record of motivating, developing, and inspiring others

Proven ability to turn data into actionable insights for diverse audiences, using multiple channels

Demonstrated success in project management, workflow processes, and budget management

Political nous and relationship management skills, ideally with experience in local and/or central government

A collaborative, values-driven approach, with a commitment to stewardship, integrity, people-first thinking, and innovation

Understanding and use of te reo and tikanga Māori is an advantage
