About the role
Youâll provide engineering and platform support for Essential Energyâs Databricks environment, ensuring performance, reliability and security through proactive monitoring, maintenance, upgrades and structured incident management.
Support and troubleshoot Databricks clusters, jobs, notebooks, libraries and integrations.
Monitor platform health/performance, investigate alerts, and resolve issues proactively.
Apply upgrades, patches and configuration changes under change control.
Create and maintain technical documentation/runbooks and architecture artefacts.
Administer Service Desk queues, prioritise requests and close incidents.
Collaborate with data engineers/developers to debug notebooks, workflows and models.
Identify opportunities to improve security, scalability and stability; stay current on product releases.
This role is a fixed term contract for 12 months and can be based within the Essential Energy footprint with the ability to work from home in a hybrid work environment. Occasional afterâhours work may be required to restore critical services as part of a rotating on-call roster.
You have experience in data engineering, technical support, or system administration, and are familiar with Databricks platform architecture and administration. Youâre comfortable managing systems and troubleshooting technical issues.
You approach problems methodically and work towards practical solutions.
You can write and debug code in SQL, Python, Scala, or R.
You understand distributed computing concepts and technologies.
You have experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, and can manage infrastructure effectively.
You look for ways to improve processes and automate tasks where possible.
You communicate clearly in writing and verbally and can document your work and collaborate with colleagues.
You work well in a team and contribute to shared goals.

Required Qualifications
Advanced Diploma Information Technology or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
Desirable
Industry certification in Databricks, Azure, AWS, or other relevant technologies
