Job Description
As a Junior Global Category Manager for Chemicals and Biological Consumables, you will play a key role in supporting the Group Category Management team by delivering high-quality data, reporting, and operational support to drive informed sourcing decisions.
This role contributes directly to the execution of global purchasing strategies for chemicals, laboratory glassware, biological reagents, and other consumables. It offers exposure to high-value procurement projects, cross-functional collaboration, and the opportunity to shape data-driven improvement initiatives within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Your responsibilities will be the following ones:
Sourcing support:
Assist with sourcing activities for Chemicals and Biological Consumables, including supplier research, and basic contract preparation.
Help standardise and maintain sourcing tools, templates, and documentation across sites.
Stakeholder management:
Work with national purchasing teams and other departments to gather requirements and support purchasing decisions.
Provide data and reports to support sourcing analysis and alignment with business needs.
Category and supplier management:
Support category planning by tracking costs, supplier performance, and risks.
Help monitor supplier performance and follow up on quality or delivery issues.
Maintain supplier records and meeting notes to support relationship management.
Performance and improvement:
Track purchasing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and assist in preparing performance reports.
Contribute to improving sourcing processes and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Sustainability and systems:
Support the integration of sustainability principles in purchasing activities.
Assist with testing or implementing new procurement tools and systems.
Help collect and consolidate purchasing data for integration or new projects.
Location: Brussels, Belgium.
Starting date: as soon as possible.
Type of contract: permanent contract, full-time.
Qualifications Education: Master’s degree in business, engineering, economics, data science, or a related field.
Languages: Fluent in English, written and spoken.
Technical skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).Familiarity with Coupa or similar procurement systems is an advantage.
Interpersonal skills: Strong problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills, with a mindset for continuous process improvement. Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Languages: Fluent in English, written and spoken.
