Senior Full Stack Engineer – AI/ML, VR/AR \& Immersive Experiences

Contract (6–12 months) \| Remote (EST or CST time zones preferred) \| Contract or Contract-to-Hire

Expert Technical Solutions has an immediate opening for a Sr. Full Stack Engineer with a focus on VR/AR. Our client is developing an immersive AI experience that merges storytelling, interactivity, and advanced design to shape how people engage with new ideas. The project sits at the intersection of creativity and technology, aiming to deliver something truly next generation in look, feel, and purpose. They are currently in stealth mode and expanding their team with an AR/VR developer who can help craft a cinematic, real-time experience that pushes visual and interactive boundaries.

We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who lives at the intersection of AI/ML, VR/AR, and modern web development. You’ll work directly with our CTO and founding team to bring our immersive product vision to life.

This is not a typical app build – we’re pushing into new territory. We need someone who can think beyond standard patterns, experiment, and help shape a category-defining product.

What You’ll Do

Design and build immersive, experiences that feel human, not robotic.

Lead development of our AR/VR layer using Unity (C#) and related tools, with a strong focus on:

3D graphics and real-time rendering

Character systems and animation

Cross-platform deployment - WebGL, mobile, desktop, VR deployment – WebXR

Performance optimization for smooth, responsive experiences

Integrate and orchestrate AI/ML systems:

LLMs and other AI APIs (text, audio, video, multimodal)

Real-time inference and streaming experiences (WebSockets, etc.)

Multi-modal interactions across voice, text, and visual interfaces

Own backend services end-to-end:

Python (FastAPI or Django) services and REST/WebSocket APIs

Real-time and event-driven architectures

Database design (PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB)

Authentication, security, and integration with third-party APIs

Build and connect the web front end:

React + TypeScript, modern UI frameworks (e.g., Tailwind)

Responsive, mobile-first interfaces

Integration patterns between Unity/VR clients and web front-end

Design, run, and optimize cloud infrastructure:

AWS and/or GCP for production deployments

Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines

Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation)

Cost and performance optimization in a startup environment

Collaborate closely with the founding team on product design, game-theory/gamification elements, and end-to-end user journeys.

Work independently, make strong architectural decisions, and deliver quickly in a fast-moving startup.

Required Skills:

You’re very likely a fit if you can honestly say “yes” to most of these:

✅ You’ve built and shipped Unity applications (Using VR/AR with WebXR, Quest, ARKit, or ARCore) with real-time 3D characters/avatars.

✅ You’ve integrated AI systems (LLMs or other AI APIs such as OpenAI/Anthropic, audio/video, multimodal).

✅ You’re comfortable with Python backends (FastAPI/Django), WebSockets, and relational/NoSQL databases (Postgres/Mongo).

✅ You’ve deployed production systems on AWS and/or GCP, using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD, with some IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation or similar).

✅ You can own projects end-to-end, from idea → architecture → implementation → deployment, and you move fast.

Core Technical Requirements

VR/AR \& Immersive Technologies

Unity Engine (C#) – production-level experience

VR/AR development (e.g., Meta Quest, ARKit, ARCore, WebXR)

3D graphics, shaders, and real-time rendering

Character/animation systems for human-like avatars

Cross-platform deployment (WebGL, mobile, desktop, VR headsets)

Performance tuning for smooth immersive experiences

Familiarity with WebGL/WebXR and related standards

AI/ML Integration

Integrating LLMs and AI APIs (text, audio, video, multimodal)

Designing AI-driven user flows and interactions

Real-time inference and streaming experiences

Model deployment/serving experience is a plus

Backend Development

Python (FastAPI or Django) in production environments

RESTful APIs + WebSockets/real-time messaging

Event-driven or streaming architectures

PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB schema design and optimization

Security, authentication/authorization, and API integration best practices

Frontend Development

React + TypeScript

Qualifications

5+ years of professional full-stack development experience

3+ years Unity Engine experience

2+ years VR/AR development experience

Strong Python backend and React/TypeScript frontend skills

Proven experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS and/or GCP)

Demonstrated experience integrating and deploying AI/ML systems

Solid grasp of computer graphics fundamentals and 3D math

A portfolio/GitHub showcasing complex, shipped projects (ideally including immersive or AI-driven products)

Bonus Points

Game development or game-engine background

Experience with audio/video processing

Real-time multiplayer or collaborative applications

ML model training or fine-tuning experience

Published research or open-source contributions

Experience building SDKs, APIs, or developer tools

Position Details

Engagement: 6–12 month contract (contract-only or contract-to-hire)

Location: Remote (US-based; EST/CST preferred, PST considered)

Travel: Occasional short trips for in-person brainstorming/work sessions

Reporting to: CTO

Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience
