Position: Senior QA Automation Developer, DevSecOps \& Integration

Employment Type: PermanentCompensation Details:

Software Engineer 18: Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location: Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2* days per week. (subject to change)

This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Laval, Brossard, Vancouver, Calgary, or Halifax.

The Digital \& Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital \& Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:

Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.

Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.

Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.

Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.

To better position ourselves for success, the Digital Delivery ServiceNow / DevSecOps \& Integration Team is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior QA Automation Developer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing automated tests for API and integration services, execute the tests, develop test automation mechanisms (pipelines, etc.) and execute some manual tests where automation is not present or difficult. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for coordinating test execution with different application owners across EDC.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills on the Microsoft Azure environment, hands-on development experience with integration platform technologies (API management), API design and development (REST/JSON, SOAP/XML), asynchronous integrations that leverage event and service bus technologies (Event Hub), practical experience of DevSecOps principles such as Continuous Integration/Deployment (CI/CD), security analysis tools, and other code analysis services, and strong agile delivery practices.

Additionally, the individual will be results-oriented, with a keen focus on quality and delivering technical value, while managing multiple priorities requiring strong attention to detail.

What you will be doing:

Develop and implement QA automation strategies for Microsoft Azure API, Event Hub and BizTalk applications and other integration services.

Execute tests and be responsible for test execution for our different API services and ensure services are running as expected. Troubleshoot issues.

Perform manual testing where automation is difficult to ensure comprehensive coverage.

Coordinate with different application owners to ensure testing is done adequately and efficiently and align with change management process.

Participate in daily huddles and weekly planning meetings to align project goals and progress.

Integrate DevSecOps pipelines into development chains to automate test execution

Participate in developing and ensure compliance with integration team standards.

Participate in Technical Community of Practice activities and share knowledge.

What we are looking for:

Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.

Minimum of 7 years’ proven experience in software development and software integration.

Experience on API testing tools such as Postman, Swagger, Azure Pipelines, and Robot Framework for API testing automation and API related technologies such as REST/JSON, SOAP/XML.

Hands on experience with Microsoft Azure and its relevant build, deployment, automation, integration, DevSecOps, networking, and security technologies in cloud and hybrid environments.

Experience in API virtualization and DevSecOps.

Experience developing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices.

Hands-on experience with Microsoft .NET.

Experience in scripting such as YAML, PowerShell.
