The Role
The Software Engineer will join our software development team to maintain and enhance/improve our advanced optometry healthcare design software/platform. The role will involve responsibilities across our Svelte/SvelteKit web platform and an existing Java-based desktop application, collaborating with internal teams and overseas laboratories.
Core Job Duty includes:
· Maintain web-based frontend applications supporting optometry workflows by ensuring program code meets system requirements, software designs, and technical specifications in accordance with quality standards
· Participating in technical discussions and code reviews, identifying limitations and opportunities for improvement in existing software and associated processes
· Testing, debugging, diagnosing and correcting errors and faults in an applications programming language within established testing protocols, guidelines and quality standards to ensure programs and applications perform to specification
· Developing software/platform by updating technical program, end user documentation and operational procedures
· Integrating and maintain the desktop and online systems
· Providing advice, guidance and expertise in developing proposals and strategies for software design activities such as financial evaluation and costings for recommending software purchases and upgrades
· Collaborating with designers, optometrists, and laboratory teams to implement clinical and manufacturing requirements
· Supporting production systems in clinical and lab environments and travelling internationally to coordinate with laboratories if required.
Skills/Experience/Qualifications Required
· 3 years experience in web and desktop software development, including backend development with Java and SQL, and strong experience with Svelte, SvelteKit, and TypeScript
· Tertiary qualifications in an ICT-related major
· Experience in healthcare and/or optometry-related systems will be ideal
· Demonstrated experience working within B2B and B2C environments is preferable
· Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, Chinese and English bilingual speaker is preferable
· Ideally familiar with the Chinese clients and be able to communicate with the suppliers in China
· Excellent team worker, and be able to work between members from different cultural background
