About Scrawlr
Scrawlr is a company building a software platform and series of products dedicated to enabling alternative forms of communication layered on existing internet content, together with delivering superior monetization flexibility and content ownership for content generators. We have recently completed our internal beta and are preparing for our external beta. We are looking forward to bringing on additional like-minded individuals to assist in product launch. The founder, board of directors, and lead investors in Scrawlr have a strong background in a variety of successful, transformational startups, and we are building our platform alongside a number of other startups within a successful ecosystem.

Compensation
$100k - 140k per annum plus an options grant commensurate with capacity for contribution to the team
Responsibilities
Build backend API features
Database design
Meaningfully contribute to product planning, project management tasks and overall company development
Mentor and lead a medium sized team
Handle task creation, task breakdown, and distribution
Improve our infrastructure and continuously improve our Backend Team
Desired skills or experience
Five (5) years of work experience in a development agency or company development environments
Experience leading small to midsize multi product backend teams with demonstrated ability to mentor, grow team members as well as provide technical guidance and oversight on implementation direction
Experience designing RESTful API and microservices architecture
In-depth experience with Laravel/Lumen framework
Very Strong database design and optimization experience
Solid experience with debugging and identifying performance bottlenecks
Experience with Postgres (SQL) and Redis (In-memory DB) or similar
Strong Knowledge of security best practices
Good working knowledge of API/microservices authentication/security flows (JWT, OAuth and similar)
Experience building and maintaining Composer packages
Experience writing and maintaining automated unit/feature/mutation testing (PHPUnit, Infection, Bats)
Solid analytical and problem-solving mindset combined with experience troubleshooting large scale systems
Nice to have skills or experience
GitHub profile with sample projects you would like to showcase
Experience working in start-up environments
Two (2) years of work experience in a dev agency or company environments
Substantial experience with Rust/Node.js and/or Python programming languages and ecosystems
Experience with CI/CD systems (CircleCI or similar)
In-depth knowledge of Linux systems (specifically Ubuntu/Apline)
Container tools experience with Docker or Kubernetes
Solid understanding of building scalable, high performing systems and services
Proficiency in Linux and shell scripting (Bash 5.x)
Experience working with modern frameworks such as VueJS, NestJS
Expertise with big data, analytics, machine learning, and data personalisation
