We are currently looking for an experienced Development Manager to steer the FIS product "Cortex" on the local Swiss market from our Zurich office.
About the role:
As a Development Manager, your skills will be at the core of changing the way the world pays, banks and invests. You’ll plan and manage the application development and client delivery activities that range from small and simple software applications, to components of large and complex software applications.
About the team:
We are Professional Services for Retail Payments in Europe who implements our Payment solution called “Cortex” that caters to the card issuing, authorizing and POS, ATM acquiring in integration with our other software solutions. Our team gathers customer requirements, designs, develops and interacts with our customers face to face onsite as well as remotely to provide software implementation support.
What You Will Be Doing
Software Development: Conducting software design, debugging, and providing beta support to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Customer Support: Offering working hours as well as out-of-hours support to clients across Europe, ensuring service continuity and issue resolution.
Client Engagement: Traveling to client sites for software implementation and support, as required by business needs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Test Analysts, Customer Support Technicians, and the Release Management Team to deliver robust software solutions.
Technical Leadership: Participating in the design and development of applications while leading your team through the full software development lifecycle.
Infrastructure Coordination: Liaising with internal service groups to acquire, maintain, and manage development infrastructure, ensuring systems are up-to-date and aligned with technology standards.
Strategic Planning: Identifying short-term and long-term software and hardware requirements to support development activities in line with FIS core practices.
Managing Resources: Overseeing recruitment, performance evaluations, compensation reviews, and employee transitions (hiring and offboarding).
Resource Planning: Identifying, allocating, and forecasting technical resource requirements to meet project and business needs.
What You Will Need
Extensive Industry Experience: At least 10 years of experience in software management and support within Retail Payment Solutions, with in-depth knowledge of the FIS Cortex, and Switzerland card and payments industry
Strong Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with a proven track record of leading teams effectively under pressure and engaging with executive-level clients.
Team Leadership Experience: 4+ years of experience managing small to medium-sized FIS Cortex Teams involved in software development and support.
Customer Support Expertise: Hands-on experience in supporting production incidents, including both online and offline troubleshooting of FIS Cortex.
Technical Proficiency:

Experience developing and supporting medium to large-scale software solutions on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and IBM AIX Power Systems.

Proficient in technologies including:
Unix C development with Oracle BEA Tuxedo and third-party libraries (libXML2, cURL, OpenSSL)
Using Embedded SQL for Informix and Oracle in Unix C
Perl and Bash scripting
Oracle Database PL/SQL
Database Expertise:

Practical knowledge of Oracle and Informix RDBMS, with strong skills in schema design and maintenance.

Experience using Oracle Golden Gate for data migration from Informix to Oracle.
Business Analysis Skills: Ability to assess client business needs and determine appropriate support strategies pertaining to FIS Cortex.
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

Project Management Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and practices.
Agile Methodology Experience: Certification and hands-on experience with Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, or equivalent.
Process Automation Skills: Proven experience in implementing development process automation within software engineering environments.
Requirements Engineering: Strong background in gathering business requirements, drafting detailed specification documents, and securing stakeholder approvals.
