About the opportunity

Join the System Integration team at Fisher \& Paykel Healthcare and help shape the next generation of home respiratory support devices. We’re bringing hospital-level innovation into the home, integrating breakthrough technologies to improve patient outcomes worldwide.

As a technical leader in our multidisciplinary R\&D group, you’ll lead the development and integration of advanced algorithms that transform research concepts into clinically robust medical devices. Your work will span data acquisition, signal processing, modelling, and system integration, combining deep technical insight with clinical understanding to deliver smarter, safer, and more responsive respiratory therapies.

This position combines strategic direction with hands-on development, technical mentoring, and influence over key design decisions. Responsibilities include:

Leading algorithm development and validation for physiological signal analysis and therapy control

Designing and conducting experiments and simulations to assess performance

Integrating new sensors, software, and hardware into prototypes and production systems

Collaborating across software, electronics, clinical, and manufacturing teams

Documenting methods and results to support regulatory and design processes

About you

Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Engineering Science, Medical/Engineering Physics, or related field

At least five years’ experience in algorithm development, R\&D, or systems integration

Expertise in algorithm design, data analysis, and signal processing (MATLAB/Python)

Strong system-level integration, mathematical modelling, and technical communication skills

Preferred: Advanced degree, medical device or physiological systems experience, and leadership in cross-functional R\&D teams.
