They are seeking an experienced E-Commerce DevOps Engineer to take ownership of deployment processes, performance monitoring, and infrastructure reliability across their high-traffic B2C websites and shopping applications. This individual will play a key role in enhancing CI/CD efficiency, ensuring uptime, and driving continuous improvement across development and operational workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, manage, and optimise CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment and reduce release cycle times.
Monitor E-Commerce application performance and implement tuning strategies to enhance speed, reliability, and scalability.
Strengthen system observability through effective logging, monitoring, and alerting (e.g. ELK Stack, New Relic, PRTG, ScienceLogic).
Manage and optimise caching solutions such as Squid Cache to improve load times and reduce latency.
Collaborate with development, QA, and digital teams to refine DevOps practices within an Agile delivery model.
Implement security and compliance best practices in line with OWASP, PCI-DSS, and UK-GDPR requirements.
Support business continuity through robust backup and disaster recovery planning.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Stay up to date with emerging DevOps tools, cloud technologies, and automation trends.
Requirements
5+ years’ experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering supporting high-availability E-Commerce or online platforms.
Proven experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab and integration with automated testing (e.g. Selenium).
Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash.
Strong understanding of performance monitoring tools (e.g. Lighthouse, New Relic) and optimisation methodologies.
Familiarity with caching technologies such as Squid Cache or F5 Load Balancer.
Sound knowledge of networking, security, and secure coding principles (OWASP).
Experience applying DevOps practices within Agile software delivery environments.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on scalability and resilience.
Desirable:
Experience within B2C E-Commerce environments supporting large-scale retail platforms.
Knowledge of C#, Java, or .NET.
Familiarity with both relational (e.g. SQL Server) and document-based databases (e.g. Endeca).
Exposure to API integration (REST, SOAP, LDAP) supporting E-Commerce systems such as PIM, Payment, or Marketing platforms.
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
