ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re hiring a Software Architect to work closely with our Web Development Manager to elevate the technical quality, delivery speed, and maintainability of our digital products.
Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000 CAD annually, based on experience and qualifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Own the architecture of our core systems – websites, APIs, personalization layer, and internal tools.
Break down projects into well-scoped tickets, prioritize tech work, and maintain a clean backlog.
Act as a product owner proxy by clarifying requirements, writing specs, and communicating with stakeholders.
Support delivery through robust CI/CD (Cloud Run, Cloud Build) and coordinate deployments.
Conduct code reviews and participate in QA and production release processes.
Mentor developers, guide implementation, and help resolve blockers.
Bring humility — know when to ask questions and how to find the right answers collaboratively.
Technical Skills
Frontend: React, Next.js, Tailwind
Backend: Node.js, Express
Infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, Cloud Build, BigQuery)
CMS: DatoCMS (or comparable headless CMSs with GraphQL API)
REQUIREMENTS
7+ years of experience in software development, including senior or staff-level roles.
Skilled in frontend development with React and Next.js and backend Node.js APIs.
Experienced in system architecture, cloud infrastructure, and scalable design patterns.
Strong CI/CD knowledge and experience shipping to production.
Proven track record in code reviews, release coordination, and QA.
Excellent communicator who thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
Mentorship-oriented and naturally supportive of junior developers.
Self-aware, humble, and thoughtful about trade-offs and team dynamics.
