Job Summary:
The
Data Engineer
will support the Capital Measurement Reporting (CMR) Data Modernization program within the banking domain. This role focuses on designing and delivering
Power BI analytics solutions and data models
that support capital reporting, risk metrics, and executive decision-making.
The position requires strong expertise in Power BI development, data modeling, ETL processes, and regulatory reporting environments. The successful candidate will collaborate with Risk, Finance, Regulatory Reporting, and Data Engineering teams to deliver transparent, well-governed, and regulator-ready reporting solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports supporting Capital Measurement, Risk Weighted Assets (RWA), risk exposure, and finance metrics.
Translate complex capital and risk data into clear visualizations and reporting insights.
Enable drill-down capabilities from enterprise-level dashboards to detailed risk and exposure datasets.
Build optimized Power BI semantic models aligned with modern cloud-based data platforms.
Apply advanced data modeling techniques such as
star schema and conformed dimensions
.
Develop and optimize DAX measures supporting capital calculations and trend analysis.
Utilize Power Query (M-code) and SQL for ETL and data transformation processes.
Work with upstream data engineering teams to ensure accurate, reconciled data pipelines.
Manage Power BI Service environments including workspaces, dataset refresh schedules, and access controls.
Implement governance practices including version control, release management, and documentation for audit readiness.
Utilize Power Automate to streamline reporting workflows and data validation processes.
Partner with Risk, Finance, and Technology stakeholders to gather requirements and validate reporting outputs.
Mentor junior BI developers and promote best practices across the data modernization program.
Required Experience:
10+ years of experience in
Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, or Data Analytics
.
5+ years of advanced Power BI development within banking or financial services environments.
Experience supporting capital measurement, risk reporting, or regulatory reporting initiatives.
Strong experience working with ETL processes and enterprise data platforms.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
Experience supporting large-scale
data modernization programs
.
Experience mentoring BI or analytics developers.
Experience working with distributed teams across business and technology functions.
Required Skills:
Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
Advanced DAX development
SQL for data querying and transformation
