Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

2 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.

2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Experience and knowledge of engineering artifacts, such as reliability monitoring and alerting, security and privacy practices and techniques, documentation, integration testing, production hygiene and support processes.

Experience using Google Cloud Platform and App Engine.

Knowledge of front-end web technologies, with experience working in a React or Angular code base.

The UX Research Tooling team is an internal tooling team within Core UX focused on simplifying research workflows so insights can power product decisions across Google. The team builds and maintains tools that help Google create products. These tools assist and empower design and research at Google by enabling execution, fidelity, and impact.

The team's mission is to build a thriving research ecosystem where knowledge supports strategic decisions and user insights drive impactful product development.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain key software components for the team’s full-stack suite of products using modern front-end technologies (e.g., React, Angular) and backend systems.

Contribute to the team’s engineering artifacts including reliability monitoring and alerting, security and privacy practices and techniques, documentation, integration testing, production hygiene and support processes.

Engage with internal engineering teams, UX designers and product owners to ensure quality of deliverables and properly land new tooling features and functionality.

Collaborate with users and UX researchers to identify specific needs and improve workflows across products.
