Job Title: AWS IoT Ops Engineer (Contract – Hybrid, Canada)

Employment Type: Full-Time Contract (with possibility of extension)

Location: 67 Toll Rd, Holland Landing, ON L9N 1H2 – Hybrid (Canada)

Salary: $90,000 (Competitive, based on experience)

About the Role

Greenworks Tools Canada Inc. is looking for an AWS IoT Operations Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. This hybrid role is focused on keeping our connected product platforms running smoothly while contributing to automation and infrastructure improvements.

You’ll spend most of your time monitoring and supporting AWS IoT environments, troubleshooting issues, and automating operational tasks, with opportunities to shape architecture and CI/CD pipelines alongside our engineering teams.

What You’ll Do

Operate and support AWS IoT Core environments (device onboarding, fleet indexing, MQTT, shadows).

Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across IoT devices, services, and data pipelines.

Automate operational workflows with Bash or Python.

Manage and optimize infrastructure with Terraform.

Support and improve CI/CD pipelines (CodePipeline, GitLab, Jenkins).

Collaborate with engineering and data teams to ensure IoT data flows reliably into supporting systems.

Maintain operational runbooks and infrastructure documentation.

What We’re Looking For

5+ years in cloud operations, DevOps, or platform engineering roles.

Hands-on experience with AWS IoT Core, XLink or similar platform.

Strong AWS background: EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, CloudTrail.

Experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code.

Bash/Python scripting for automation.

Exposure to Kubernetes, ECS, or Fargate.

Familiarity with networking (VPC, VPNs, DNS, load balancing, HA setups).

Experience integrating IoT data into Snowflake or similar platforms.

Nice to Have

Multi-account AWS setups (Control Tower, Organizations).

IoT lifecycle management (OTA updates, Device Defender).

AWS IoT Specialty, Terraform Associate, or other relevant certifications.
