At Greyhound Recycling we are already deploying AI into the day-to-day running of the business. Real systems solving real operational problems.
Role Overview
A hands-on senior engineering role building production AI systems across Greyhound Recycling’s operations. You will design, build, and maintain the company’s AI suite — working across AI architecture, Python backends, front-end applications, RAG pipelines, agent workflows, and internal tooling. This is not a research or strategy role; it’s about shipping real systems that are used every day.
Key Responsibilities
Build secure AI applications enabling staff to query internal company data
Design and deploy agent-based workflows for finance, operations, customer service, and commercial teams
Develop RAG pipelines and retrieval services on existing vector architecture (TimescaleDB)
Create internal web apps, dashboards, and interfaces for AI tools
Build backend services and APIs in Python; front-end experiences that make AI usable
Implement monitoring, evaluation, guardrails, and feedback loops for production AI
Shape long-term platform architecture: secure data access, agent deployment, and scalable tool integration
Core Requirements
Strong commercial experience as a full-stack software engineer
Deep Python experience building production backends, services, and integrations
Strong front-end experience building modern, usable web applications
Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, agent workflows, RAG, or related AI application patterns
Experience designing secure data access patterns for internal systems
Ability to design architecture and write production code daily
Confidence working independently and shipping at pace
Good product instinct — you understand adoption matters as much as architecture
Nice to Have
Vector databases and retrieval systems
AI evaluation, observability, and guardrails
Orchestration frameworks for agents or workflows
PostgreSQL / TimescaleDB
Real-time systems, communications tooling, or conversational AI
Analytics, reporting, or operational systems
Logistics, industrial, or data-heavy environments
Existing Foundations
This is not a greenfield build. Greyhound already has a master vector database (pgvector, pgvectorscale, pgai) and uses other PostgreSQL extensions such as TimescaleDB, PostGIS, H3, etc. We have a group AI suite near go-live, a domestic logistics/routing AI app in testing, and an active internal engineering culture focused on shipping working systems.
