Job Overview
The Digital Accessibility Website Developer will focus on remediating accessibility barriers in CMS platforms and custom web applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience working with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ARIA markup while ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
This role requires experience working within CMS platforms such as Sitecore, Salesforce, and WordPress, along with familiarity with AWS infrastructure, Biznet platforms, and enterprise databases.
The developer will collaborate closely with digital accessibility testers, designers, and content teams to correct accessibility violations and improve usability across multiple agency systems including websites, portals, forms, applications, and content repositories.
This is a remediation-heavy role, requiring direct modification of HTML markup, CSS, and accessibility attributes to resolve issues identified through accessibility audits.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccessibility Remediation
Apply accessibility fixes to front-end code and markup issues identified through accessibility audits.
Correct accessibility issues such as:
Color contrast problems
Missing or incorrect alt text
Improper heading structure
Keyboard navigation barriers
Link role issues
Incorrect ARIA roles and attributes.
Modify and restructure HTML, CSS, and ARIA markup to comply with WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
CMS Development \& Remediation
Work within CMS platforms including Sitecore, Salesforce, and WordPress to correct accessibility issues.
Modify CMS templates, content types, and presentation layers to ensure accessibility compliance.
Implement accessible UI components and patterns across CMS-driven sites.
Collaboration \& Agile Delivery
Work with accessibility testers to review audit findings and apply code fixes.
Participate in Agile development sprints and respond to prioritized accessibility remediation tickets.
Use JIRA or similar defect tracking tools to manage and document remediation tasks.
Collaborate with designers, content strategists, QA testers, and project managers to ensure accessibility compliance across projects.
Accessibility Support \& Guidance
Provide accessibility guidance to content teams remediating documents, forms, and embedded media.
Share accessibility remediation patterns and best practices with development teams.
Support teams with questions related to technical implementation of WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
Required QualificationsEducation
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum 4+ years of experience remediating digital accessibility issues in websites and applications.
Strong hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ARIA markup.
Experience working with CMS platforms such as Sitecore, Salesforce, or WordPress.
Experience implementing accessibility solutions for WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of HTML DOM structure and semantic HTML.
Experience interpreting results from accessibility testing tools including:
Axe
ANDI
NVDA
JAWS
Experience troubleshooting accessibility issues such as:
Keyboard traps
Focus management
Form labeling and field associations
Responsive accessibility issues.
Development \& Platform Experience
Experience working with JavaScript frameworks and UI component libraries.
Familiarity with AWS services, Biznet applications, or enterprise backend platforms.
Experience working with backend APIs and CMS template structures.
Collaboration Skills
Experience working in Agile development environments.
Ability to manage remediation tasks using JIRA or similar ticketing systems.
